End of MTA with Russia? Antonov and Reliance signed MoC for India's Multi-role Transport Aircraft

HAL design should be a new design, preferably based on specifications of C-130J class.

I hope this deal materialize. Since UKRINE is in direct competition with Russians now a days, we might be able to clinch real value for money deal, say real true TOT. They can be real help at engine and testing.

And if Antonov can help with engine and testing, then nothing could be better.

I do not think so they can offer much ,more then half of budget came from Russia and much of its research and equipment came from Russia ,better option is KC 390 from Ember and C 2 from Kawasaki but both production engine not a new one .

@Bahamut, there may be merit in buying Antonov technology; but there is no merit in buying Antonov planes.

Reliance is in no position to manufacture planes. It does not have any facilities that can build planes. Ambani is a wheeler dealer; rather than a true tech leader.

I am all for acquiring technology from Antonov. But the other end should be a company with enduring interest in aviation like HAL or Mahindra even.

The other issue: Is IAF interested? Has IAF shown any inclination to buy Antonov planes? These were available earlier too. In fact Russians themselves were buying An series planes, but not IAF.

Reliance wants to jointly bid for IAF contracts. The financial health of Antonov is very much an issue in a joint bid; as OEM is responsible for execution of the contract.

For 20 year ,Antonov is been neglected and is still being neglected by Ukraine govt. ,nearly are of its project were UAC and with a lot Russian components ,An 178 is about 60-65 Russian components and An 70 was even more.Technology is a continuous effort , effort must be put at all time .Antonov has also lost access to major training and advance equipment supplier .Better be it KC 390 or C 2 as the technology they have is better .
