For the record, most people in England don't spend a lot of time thinking about India at all.
You mean while relishing on Chicken Tikka Masala which is now a true British national dish, yes?

That would also explain why Mr.Cameron would urge India :

David Cameron urges India to open up to British business

And this :

David Cameron's India challenge

Earlier this year, commuters in Delhi and other Indian cities were being offered attractive scenes of British life on street-side hoardings, buses and taxis - part of a global UK campaign to promote "Great Britain".

Yes, people in the great UK never spend a lot of time thinking about India. :thumb:

BTW - As far as the butthurt goes about UK being slandered here, do accept the fact that you are posting on an Indian defence forum and jingoism is bound to run high when discussing unfortunate racist incidents.

@Verdane, personally I was always neutral w.r.t. Britain, and never really had any negative feelings towards the country. All that changed when I began participating in internet discussions, reading online news sites, became active on Twitter, etc. There I noticed something very peculiar. The amount of hate, venom and derision for India and Indians that many ('most' would be a more accurate word I guess) Brits carry, was something inexplicable and puzzling to me.

I am still puzzled, but reading Brits spewing hate on the internet, changed my views towards Britain forever. When the long-running London riots happened a couple of years back, I actually felt a sense of schadenfreude, and expressed it online. Back in 2008, I would never have imagined that such a day would arrive.

Many reasons for the rise in racism there.

The 2008 recession took over and many many jobs in UK were lost or offshored. You gotta blame someone for "stealing" jobs and who better then the "brownies".

Add to that, the visible rise of divisive political parties (which till before was less mainstream) attracting a lot of folks from lower socio-economic strata and you get the recipe for increased communal violence.

One thing to observe is that regular white collar folks there for most part will not be very racial (at least not openly) but the skinheads and blue collar folks/chavs (like the girl in this case) will openly engage and escalate racial violence.

Also, the radical Mullahs there implementing Sharia law don't do much favour to defuse such tensions. Gives more prominence to anti-Islamic parties like EDL

Well now I know how naive you are. lol go to any English forum and see how India is defiled on a regular basis.

Go to online editions of any English newspaper and see how India and Indians are being vilified by your compatriots. When India send its Moon and mars Mission, more than any other country (yes, even Pakistan), the most butt hurt country was yours, so much so that BBC and many other English News Channels carried not so flattering Indian content. SO who is more obsessed with whom. Most Indians wouldn't even know where England is mate, so please get off your high horse and stop pretending that your country is an important stakeholder in Global affairs, cause you are not.

I suppose since you are one of the first people to flood me with insistent messages that my country is irrelevant to you and when it's not being irrelevant hates India and that even though the UK is irrelevant you hate it etc...... then I should probably respond to you. I don't recall stating the UK is important in Global affairs and I'm not really concerned by the average Indian's geographical ineptitude either - rather the comments in the forum.

Firstly - looking at THIS forum, indeed just this individual threat there is plenty of comments maligning UK. It may be irrelevant to the vast majority of Indian's and frankly India is irrelevant to the vast majority of Brits... however, just look at page one of the Europe forum there are several UK / England focused topics and I think you will agree there are more than a few anti England posts in each one. I chose to respond to one of those sneers.

So you found some negative reporting in the BBC about India. Congrats. The BBC reports on unpleasant things happening all over the world - because it has a global audience. Most press articles are negative I rarely see the UK press write anything nice about anyone or anything, they are a pack of b**star*s and always will be. However, I suspect you perceive anything short of outright praise as negative and anything negative as a practical declaration of war - so touchy and hypersensitive, Do you all need a neck rub?

Yes. People in the UK were irritated at the Indian Space program. But the irritation was directed mostly at the UK government for sending aid to a country that clearly didn't need the aid as it could afford to send rockets into space. Meanwhile the UK was going through a recession. Generally speaking if Brits think anything of India it is:

1. Curry
2. Cricket
3. Irritating Call Centres
4. Unnecessary aid that Indian's don't even want, yet seem annoyed when people protest against sending it. Shouldn't you just be agreeing? :p

Listen mate, you are happy there, I am happy here. We all can agree there is no affinity between the two countries and neither should there be any delusions that there might ever be such bonhomie between us.

So we can go separate ways and you go do your thing and I will do mine.

One more thing, nobody here was annoyed that you stopped aid. Rather we were quite pleased with the development. God knows you can use your own money on your own people. What annoyed us was the outright self righteousness of the Brits that without such 'aid' we would quite literally implode.

You are crying that most threads on this forum regarding England are anti UK, maligning UK, etc. etc. Have you seen the various UK fora (especially the ones related to defence, like this one) which might have topics related to India? Please have a look at them first before you are exposed as a hypocrite.

Yes. I'm glad we are both happy and i'm not your mate. I think the point of discussion is to air and challenge different opinions. Especially those you find obnoxious.

I don't doubt there are some trolls in some British forums - even if not all people using British forums are not always British. Just as there are Indian trolls on here.

I would ask that you don't judge an entire nation on the comments of a few morons that you encountered when reading those forums. I'd certainly not judge your entire country based on the sneering comments I've encountered here.

PS I'm pretty sure I have not shed a single tear any more than I'm sure you did when you read comments about your country that you were not happy about.
