Egypt, India seek boosting economic ties

Cairo, Sept 2 (PTI) Egypt''s Minister of Trade and Industry Rashid Mohammed Rashid today stressed the need of using Indian expertise in industry and labour sector as he met with his Indian counterpart Anand Sharma and discussed ways to develop economic ties between Cairo and New Delhi. During his current visit to India, Rashid said that there is a working plan being implemented for boosting economic and trade relations between the two countries and increasing the volume of trade exchange between the two countries.

Talks also dealt with new mechanisms to coordinate both countries'' stances on the WTO negotiations as well as facing the fallout of the global financial crisis, Rashid said. Both discussed means of boosting Indian investments in the coming phase and luring a number of companies to set up new projects in Egypt.

Rashid also met with a number of representatives of Indian companies investing in Egypt. He asserted the necessity of making use of Indian expertise in enhancing small and medium scale industries, labour training and increasing the efficiency of workers in industry sector.
