Ya'll Nibbiars The JMSDF has launched the 30 DX Class Frigate JS Kumano. The name of the new escort ship is "Kumano"! The ship number is "2" Kumano, the Destroyer escort ship of the JMSDF, is launched. Pursuing versatility and cost and matience saving.

The shape can be regarded as a flat deck Dutch slope drying rack mast modeled on Burke. The shape of the long bow building with large inwardly inclined sideboard and low center of gravity is closer to the design style of the new generation of European destroyers.

Ya'll Nibbiars it already has.
Japanese Maya, Atago and Kongo class destroyers have a lot of VLS. They have more capable as well as numerically superior submarines and amphibious ships. They even have their own Brahmos called XASM-3. I think we still have a ways to go. Our Aircraft Carriers are our only edge over them.

Bruh and what about matching their shipbuilding capacity, Japan and Korea have a robust Marine yards, they can churn out quality with quality in time constraint.
Yesterday I posted a research article by an ex-Navy officer in Indian Navy thread. There he talks about two paths that we can take: either go the East Asia way by not drawing a line between warship building industry and ship-building industry OR we go the US-Europe way for drawing a line and only concentrating on warship building industry.
We can achieve their shipbuilding capacity either way, but we first need to address this:-
https://www.orfonline.org/research/...the-indian-navys-rocky-road-to-self-reliance/
Found this good paper by an ex-Navy Officer on the state of shipbuilding in India. The one new (for me) takeaway was that the administrative head of public-sector shipyards is Secretary of Defence Production and Supplies and this person is also officially assigned to the key task of naval vessel procurement. Its no wonder then that public-sector shipyards end up getting these contracts while private-sector fights for the table scraps (if there are any left at all). This is one major reason why Indian shipbuilding is failing to take-off. A reason where I don't see much progress yet. All other limiters like technology-intensive sub-systems that are imported and end up leading to delays and cost-overruns are being adressed, but until we get the private and public shipyards on a level playing field, we can't hope to build quality warships at a low cost and in high numbers. Chinese warship industry has crossed that crucial threshold. Until we cross that barrier, we won't be able to keep PLAN out of IOR in the future, despite US support.

Is it indigenous? What do they need such things for. For such small land and population? Can they realistically defend themselves against their neighbors like Malaysia and Indonesia.
Yeah Nibba ROS is a militarized nation with Naval capability equaling Malaysia and Thailand.
