Ukraine Russia war thread is the gem of DFI; on one end of the spectrum pro-Ukrainians mock how Russian weapons are outdated and on the other pro-Russians celebrate Ukrainian soldiers getting killed. More or less it's the patten there. Other than that you'd find occasional Ukraine is Nazi too.
Don't kid yourself. You contributed to it too.

Let's make it even more simple; why are we having two radars in the first place!?

US Arleigh Burkes had so many different types of radars ranging from surface search to illuminators, but when the moved to Zumwalt they replaced most of them with just a single AN/SPY-3 system.

Germans had a combination of SMART-L search and APAR targetting radar on their Sachsen class frigates. When the moved to Baden-Württemberg...simple, just a Cassidian TRS-3D system.

Same goes for Israel. Combination of EL/M-2228 and EL/M-2218 on Sa'ar 5. But in Sa'ar 6 it's just a single MF-STAR.

I think Godavari and Brahmaputra both were supposed to get STAR
The MFSTAR alone is good enough - problem is its power consumption and not enough cooling - we havent operated the MFSTAR at full power yet.

And redundancy is a good thing to have. If the MFSTAR is prosecuting targets, the additional LANZA can be your early warning radar for other threats on the horizon (specifically talking about missile defense)

Can't argue on this, a simple rotating thingy is always going to way easier to cool compared to a surface mounted AESA.
And redundancy is a good thing to have. If the MFSTAR is prosecuting targets, the additional LANZA can be your early warning radar for other threats on the horizon (specifically talking about missile defense)
I don't think the redundancy is justified given the huge cost we incur on the second radar.

With modern AESA we can easily assign high powered pencil beams to individual targets while simultaneously using low powered sweeps to scan the environment (track while scan).

Agreed about TWS - but theres just not enough cooling right now to reliably allow the MFSTAR to do multiple tasks at the same time.

This is a problem that is being actively worked on, and there should be a solution, In the meantime, the bonus of a Lanza is a plus

Denel was accused of and later blacklisted for bribery in their anti-material rifle submission, but because of this we lost the opportunity to have an indigenous SPH. Something even better than current K9s.
Similar is the case of Rheinmetall; imagine if we had not blacklisted them then currently we'd be having AHEAD on all our AK630s and BMPs

The second or third such incident with the Indian Apaches but no one commenting like against Dhruv, last month entire US fleet of Apache was grounded due to some issues and no one cared...

At an event held on 28 May 2023, the Department of Aerospace Engineering dedicated the 0.5 m diameter enclosed free-jet hypersonic wind tunnel on campus to the late Prof Roddam Narasimha, and formally named it in his honour as the Roddam Narasimha Hypersonic Wind Tunnel.
Shri S Somanath (Chair, ISRO) and Dr Samir Kamat (Chair, DRDO) participated in the event as chief guests. Prof Narasimha's family members, former colleagues and students, IISc faculty members and several senior scientists from India's aerospace R&D establishments also participated.
The wind tunnel is one of three hypersonic wind tunnel facilities in India (the other two are at ISRO and DRDO). This wind tunnel generates a circular air jet at hypersonic speeds, going up to Mach 10 (ten times the speed of sound). Test materials of various kinds can be placed in the jet to mimic hypersonic flight conditions. The facility is actively being used for multiple research projects.
Among many of Prof Narasimha's achievements, he was a pioneer of experimental hypersonics in India. R&D work in high-speed aerodynamics being carried out in the country has largely stemmed from his vision in the 1970s and 1980s.

Yeah but unlike the Dhruv, every one of the three incidents of the Apache has been precautionary landings. The Apache's self diagnosis suite gives ample warning, and redundant power and second , third, control systems allow for the helo to return and land.

Unlike the Dhruv. which, fair enough, was never designed or required to have the same
