Some are SO eager to ensure royalties get paid to foreign OEMs

maybe one of these days BEML will get around to putting the steering wheel on the Tatra on the right
The day I’ll give respect to BEML as a better PSU and not regard them as any stereotypical PSU is the day they figure out how to move the steering to the right side on the Tatra’s and make it compliant with regular Indian Road rules and thus making training simpler for the drivers making the process more efficient and economical.

Damn. BEML folks just assemble the Kit and call it a day. At least TATA, Ashok Leyland, Mahindra can put a effort to design their products and provide it to army.

Not going to happen as long as you are license manufacturing them.

Yeah. TATA, Mahindra, AL, BF would form a JV with foreign OEM and call the product indigenous.

Tata, Mahindra own their designs tho and considering this is still in context with the Trucks and all, the design is their own.
The heart of any vehicle is its engine.

TATA make use of Cummins engine in all its LPTA for defence use.
Mahindra is only into armoring as of now and for that too they have formed a JV with UAE and Jordan.
Kalyani has gone one step ahead. They have moved 40% of manufacturing rights for Paramount in India and marketing that.

Only meaningful work in this segment is being carried out by AL for long through VFJ. Due to stupid government policies, they have been at shade. But even then after so long, they have been unable to come up with a engine to beat TATRA performance.

vFJ is the biggest scam artist of all. Those buggars buy trucks from TaTa and Ashok Leyland put up VFJ stamp and sell it to the army at higher price and ofcourse it is indigenious .

Not TATA, AL.

The engine and transmission of VFJ were by MAN.

Nope. Went through their product lineup. Basically manufacturing Adithya MPV, Stallion and LPTA. So basically assembling the products of AL and TATA while the Adithya MPV is basically could not survive the Mines and then moved to just provide security to CRPF convoys in Kashmir. Also manufacturing MPV of various configuration could not find much details.

Products | Vehicle Factory Jabalpur | Government of India (ddpdoo.gov.in)

LPTA is new addition, but even that is not marketed by OFB unlike AL Stallion which is fully owned and marketed by OFB.

Other APCs are basically OFB product with TATA and others being sub-contractor.

Both LPTA and Stallion are designed and developed by TATA and AL. VFJ basically producing them under license. Both of the products will be marketed by Tata and Al. Basically GoI made them to share the manufacturing with VFJ for unknown reasons since both of them can add additional lines for orders easily due to their scale of operations.
