WTF ??

we had agreed to provide tot, no one will give this tot thing to any other country.

An Vietnamese air force delegation visited India a few years back that was given a live demonstration of the Akash Mk1 surface to air interceptor missiles as India was keen to export its air defense system to friendly countries in the region. DRDO also had agreed to provide ToT (Transfer of Technology ) for the local production of the Akash Mk1 missiles systems but it failed to materialize.

For many reason even i won't choose Akash Mk1. Akash is a soviet era design and concept and not to mention it's bulky. Once you take it out from it's pressurised missile box it's degradation begun. Also the older variant didn't had an active seeker. Also the 3D radar of the Akash system wasn't that much advance that the systems we have now. And another thing is Akash is just an anti-aircraft system, it can't shoot down low flying cruise missiles. Yes, we had a chance there to export our system but we missed it and Isrealis grab that opportunity. Even after buying SPYDER system, Vietnam still has a large requirement for modern air defence system and that's where i see Akash NG as a future export potential

We built our empire over foreign TOT.
I see vlsrsam with more potential than akash ng .

Range :40 km , similar for any competitive missile
Most probably will get a aesa seeker soon .
Vertically launched , so can be integrated on warships too . Compact design based on a missile in service .
Thrust vectoring feature .

What is the problem? Vietnam is a friendly country, and Akash is an outdated system as per current standards.

Akash missile system is itself based on Kub missile of 2K12 SAM system of Russia, which is widely used and available. Ramjet-breathing missiles are not exactly cutting-edge, our main modifications are in electronics and guidance systems.

Its radar (Rajendra PESA), again is nothing cutting-edge for current standards as we have developed better AESA radars tracking and fire control.

Vietnam is already operating SA-6. Nothing about top of the shelf technology here when talking about giving ToT of an existing missile. ToT doesn't mean you give Know-Why. As far as Know-How is concerned, it requires in house study to do it properly.
