How about a LSV lugging around Spike NLOS for non line of sight target engagement until a similar 20+ km ranged NAG / SANT becomes available ?

Or have the 16 km ranged Sant integrated with LSV at present and then work on a longer ranged Sant er with two way fibre optic guidance like Spike NLOS.

At present, for non los targets we will be needing external designation by other means be it by spec operators or ghatak teams or arty fire observers .

SANT has a 16 km range when launched from a helo at optimal speeds. When ground launched the range will reduce .

They should make several types of variants like JLTV has. Speaking of, does DRDO has any kind of indigenous chain gun development programme?

Now its time for Indian Navy to have a huge fleet of MQ-9 Reaper style Naval UCAVs for Naval warfare roles. These torpedoes will be a gamechanger.
UCAV concept is mostly concentrated to land. Since UCAV can be mounted with atgm.
UAV in sea is mostly used for surveillance role.
UCAV can not bear the weight of this SMART weapon system

It is a lightweight torpedo, atleast depth charges can be attacked to UCAVs.

Flying Torpedo.jpg

DRDO has started work on developing an add-on kit for the Advanced Light Torpedo Shyena that will enable the weapon to glide through the air from altitudes as high as 20,000 feet and enable the Boeing P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol jet to attack enemy submarines from long ranges.

DRDO Glider Assisted Torpedo program is to turn advanced Light Torpedo Shyena into a glide weapon that jettisons wings and other air-control controls and activates its parachute before it’s near to hit the water. The glider kit will be able to glide for seven to 10 minutes that’s around 25-30km before entering the water and travel further 20km before hitting its intended target.

The glider adaptor kit includes a flight control computer, a GPS–INS-based navigation system, and power sources. Advanced Light Torpedo Shyena won’t be requiring any modifications for the Glide adaptor kit. DRDO might be including a data link to transmit target position updates while in flight at later stages.

the project is few years old. this one can be easily achievable.

Mark 54 lightweight torpedo.jpg

Mark 54 light-weight torpedo is getting this same treatment via the High Altitude Anti-Submarine Warfare Weapon Capability.

this capability will enable P-8I to drop weapons from several thousand feet's , does not need to take the time to descend low over the ocean and can avoid enemy Ship based SAMs.

Weight of an MAD is around 300 kg.
Weight of Shyena torpedo with Glide kit 350 kg
Max payload MQ-9 could carry is 1700 kg.

Do the maths.

This is 1700 kg is advertised weight that mq9 reaper could take off theoretically.
Did mq 9 reaper carry so much advanced radar/sensor inside it which Poseidon has that could guide SMART
