Best to search this thread itself.
One will find far better information.
Most of the original information source is this thread.
This forum alone is the best place. Peaceful forum and informative, the media section also has images for reference too. So I feel I should just search it, a DFI app should be also good? Won’t it?

So we’ll have our own supersonic cruise missile? Then why do we suck at subsonic?
Subsonic is a different regime , it requires moving part turbofan or turbojet , slower , well for game changing scenario , supersonic and hypersonic long range Cruise missile will be required to give a upper hand , subsonic missile are more easier to shoot down , they are somewhat cheap , in case of neutralizing lowly defended assets , subsonic missile are used if bringing fighter is riskier in airspace at long to medium range .

Why will LFRH be dual-speed. Its a ramjet, it can afford to cruise at Mach2 & accelerate to engage at Mach4.5... Is that what dual-speed means here? 🤔😕
Liquid Fuel Ramjet or RAMJET in general has a downside. Range.

I wonder why they installed two seperate EO sites one on each launcher. Wouldn't just one be sufficient to acquire target? Is it to increase the field of view?
Because of this

R-73 seeker on activation has very limited time , so target must be searched tracked and the seeker of R73 brought within the LOS of the target so that it can itself get a lock . This is done by the individual launchers with the FLIR within a very short time.

If one FLIR is installed , it will provide coarse and fine guidance for one R-73 only. Each R-73 will need it's own external eyes and own positioning mechanism to make sure it can lock on the intended target successfully.

And that is not a EO pod , it is a COTS FLIR / thermal camera

Its project is literally called Long Range Cruise-Missile. I can't think why range would be lesser than atleast 1000km.

Nonetheless my question is different... why will a ramjet missile be be dual-speed? Tamers advice maintaining steady thrust & in turn acceleration, gaining speed over a long time.
Adding to that, LFRJ looks like an Indian version of the Air-Sol Moyenne Portée missile of France, a tactical nuke delivery liquid fueled ranjet cruise missile.

Yes. Cruise missiles could be of long range. But with increasing range, their overall mass keeps on increasing. So at the end of the range, you do get a missile carrying lot of dead weight. So the idea of Dual speed CM. A stage powered with conventional rocket motor which would get jettisoned after getting spent. The second stage with liquid fuel ramjet to cover the rest of journey.

By the way this idea has been proposed by someone else too very recently.

Hm. That sounds like it'll accelerate to Mach3-4 & than carry on with ramjet... A lot like the scramjet hypersonic testbed, although that one accelerates more probably. But how is it dual speed then? 😕 (Unless it's aeroballistic... where the booster hurtles it through high atmosphere to increase range, you mentioned a problem for ramjet, after which it'll enter atmosphere & ignite its ramjet. THAT rootless make it a proper dual-speed!.. Possible @porky_kicker?)

How about another concept.
1. Jettison-able initial booster
2. Turbofan 0.8 M low velocity sustainer, again jettisoned.
3. High velocity LFRJ or Ramrocket ( The size will depend opon the pressure ratio of ramming. Or solid rocket propulsion as in Klub sizzler.
Don't know how feasible the solution will be as the turbofan has to lug a lot of weight for a long distance.

You suspicion it's probably correct. It'd become too big... Turbofan system can't share propulsion mechanism nor fuel with ramjet, so both will be seperate. See a schematic diagram of ramjet & turbofan, you'll get what I mean.

Why add turbofan anyway?.. Turbofan has only one advantage, low IR signature. So the stealthy CATS Hunter will benefit from it. These above stuff will get detected & need to be fast & maneuvering. Or atleast sea-skimming/terrain-higging.

Although, in the schematic I proposed it cannot share fuel but in turboramjet propulsion it can. But we are not concerned about it here (dual velocity cruise missile)
