...Says a lot about how many morons managed to get into the army and rise to the ranks.

I once read a book by a senior commander of Indian army , he was involved in the 1965 war and he mentioned how some commanders were incompetent , I can't remember , but I think the then COAS performance during the war left a lot to be desired . The war was salvaged because a few commanders went beyond their duty to save the day.

I heard the fucker got court marshalled out for a some reason... And haven't we come across enough ex-defence specimens to think too highly of them?

Like any other organisation of India, military/paramilitary too are corrupt. You can tell the work-culture from their jokes.
Just like burocracy merit is secondary in promotion & all loyal pets of the bosses are likely to rise up through ranks while the real steel are held below, in a neverending cycle. Only a few realise the importance of hiding their spine while they are juniors. Big-brothers don't like brains in their subordinates.

Note how most of the achievements in Indo-Paki military or govt are by officers in lower middle levels... Manekshaw was the only exception & he knew to be tight with Indira govt.

AFAIK LFRJ-LRCM is discontinued. New LRCM will be based on SFDR. LFRJ will only be used for non-combat roles like supersonic target. This is due to inherent disadvantages of liquid fuel.

That is laughable claim. Just look at the rocket, how small it is. With this size, the maximum burn out speed couldn't be more than 15 Mach. Under such a speed, what kind of glider can sustain 400 seconds hypersonic speed flying after separated from the rocket?

Besides, Chinese call it hypersonic AIRCRAFT.

There is no mention of it using a scramjet engine. Its a waverider ie it rides on the hypersonic shocks created so its not a free falling glider. So 400 secs is hardly surprising. The record for scramjet is held by US at 200 secs.

You can always dual pack, quad pack missiles, so efficiency is not a problem.
What a real universal VLS provides is ambiguity on the total load of missiles carried.
On a ship with 64 VLS, you can have 8 offensive and 56(even more if multi pack)defensive missiles for AD mission, or 32 offensive and 32 or more defensive missiles for a strike missions.
