Did you read the last paragraph before quoting ?
Army has ordered both types are trucks along with several other types of trucks ( including Volvo , ashok Leyland etc ) , for different purposes and terrains .
Should we use trucks of supplied only by Tata?

What is the source of your misinformation that these trucks are not made in India ?
BEML is importing the engines , transmission etc from Europe but the rest of truck is manufactured in Kerala .
Just like Tata is manufacturing trucks After arranging engines , transmission etc from other foreign companies .
BEML is assembling and modifying these trucks for special purposes ( like for pinaka rockets ) why would we give it's specifications to Czech Republic to buy it directly ?

What is the contribution of TATA in this so called 50-50 partnership except money ? Do they own any IP rights ?
Did they develop any technology ?

If we are already using Tatra trucks for some special purpose like ( for example pinaka ) , should we order Tata TRucks too and create maintenance nightmare ?
First of all army dont selcet the final products. Babus do it. Army only select 2 qualified products. we should use indigenous trucks not screwgiri trucks. You are saying just like beml tata arrange everythings lol. Here everything that is used in tata trucks are made in india some 90 percent . Its engines are made in india from scracth and so does everything. Beml only import and paint it and say its indigenous. Beml use imported engines and everything . The only indigenous thing in tatra trucks are paint, tyres and some other low level stuff. You are saying that tata can't make trucks for pinaka launchers, guess what genius launchers itself are from tata. Cummings engine are pretty good and they dont need to have ip rights as long as these engines are made in india there is no problem. And lastly your point of giving technology to czech for modifications is hilarious - i mean modifications can be done here after getting trucks . Thats how modifications are done not before but after. Tatra trucks is the same whether used in pinaka or brahmos launchers.

Technical question:

Shouldn't this baby make a great SAM?.. With 1500km range & 6M speed it won't have to worry about notching & interception path, instead simply home in towards any target within 500km at high-speed. It's so fast the engagement won't even come to a tailchase!

@porky_kicker @Karthi @Chinmoy???

In my personal opinion , an unnecessary complication. First Money , it will cost far too much for each interceptor Missile. Second High speed complicates the seeker tech/Communication , and less response time , a slow speed SAM gets much time to manuvers itself to a collision course . MY be good for short range Point defence Systems , where the target will not get much time to react. May need more sophisticated storage and erecter systems

Whatever it is all depends upon on the needs , we can create such a system when ever we felt a need . Why unnecessary complication

What was the total distance covered by the HSTDV during its 22 second long flight?

Air launched versions would be almost impossible to intercept. Imagine launching one from IB / LOC and watching Muridke go up in smoke.

Paki Momins will add a new one to their Madrassa curriculum - "Palak jhapakte Allah ko pyara hona".

Assuming smaller warhead & weight ofcourse. But almost 100% hit probability. Will still be several times cheaper than jet. 6 Meteors already cost as mush as a Tejas.

And reaction time will be a factor to both parties. I doubt the target will be able to do any meaningful maneuvers before being hit.

Wouldn't that put its speed at Mach ~6 from the moment its motor is fired?
40km in 22sec. Mach6 should be reached 2-3 seconds after kaunch.

Altitude of flight is itself 30km, meaning three fourth of the distance was ascending flight... So logically during longer level flights it should be able to do higher than Mach6

Hundai cars are made in India from scratch so does it mean that hundai cars are indigenous ?
Oppo/Vivo phones are assembled in India that means these are indigenous mobiles ?

The point is both Tata and BEML bare doing screwdrivergiri but you are defending the screwdrivergiri of TATA .
What are the critical components Made by Tata in their military trucks ?

The army/mod is ordering different varieties of trucks for various purposes , let them but trucks of tatra , Mahindra , Volvo or Tata according to their preference , why you want only Tata trucks ?

In long ranges they will surely will caught on the IR sensors . Counter measures may hinder the kill , plus difficulty in Seeker / Guidance may make the SAM fail(May be) , but for short ranges much better kill probability. Again can be achievable , but still cost is a concern and can attain similar speeds using rocket engines, then why complicates things

Why i want tata trucks - because they are the most indigenous trucks . Hyundai car just like maruti suzuki . Yeah they aren't . And if they are building more than 90 percent of car in india , then they are indigenous products. Oppo/vivo phone assembled , thats right the key word here is assembled. I am saying the same thing assembled products aren't indigenous. They get kits and assemble them , there is nothing indigenous here. Tata trucks are more than 90 percent indigenous aka 90 percent of tata trucks are made in india from scracth and thats not the case with beml. They are importing truck in kits and then assembling it and saying indigenous. Aka making people fool.
Army uses different trucks okay but all of there requirement can be fulfilled from tata trucks. Recently they even build 12×12 trucks and i can bet even they are more indigenous than tatra trucks from beml. Volvo are an exception , they dont use them for TEL or radars etc. They are meant for startegic ballisitc missiles like agni 5 . Tata cant make these trucks.
Also i will tell you that tata trucks for 4×4 are in service currently more than 15000 , but they aren't made by tata but instead vechile factory jabalpur. Why - well you need to employ ofb/dpsu for screwgiri.

Plus the IP belongs to TATA I assume. Tejas has several foreign LRUs, critical sub systems it relies on today, but if industry, or DRDO produces acceptable substitutes, it wont be much of a hassle to modify the platform. Tejas mark 1 is leading to several off shots based on it as well. However, several cases of modifying Russian, etc. designs like T72, T90, Su 30 MKI have resulted in cancellation of programs, or fleecing India to get work done.

Can this vehicle be used as a satellite launcher- smaller satellites to low orbits? There was a brief mention of this capability when the first test occurred in June/2019

I would like that too in a way considering the urgency, but they might be too expensive to be mass produced then to find out they arent working right in that theater of war.

I think a lot of gaps have to be filled in the India-China border.

HSTDV Cruise Vehicle.

DRDO can develop a hypersonic missile with scramjet engine in next five years, which will have the capacity to travel at more than two kilometres per second.

The HSTDV performed on all parametres, including combustion chamber pressure, air intake and control guidance.

At 11.03 am, the Agni missile booster took the hypersonic vehicle to height of 30 km after which the latter separated. Thereafter, the vehicle’s air intake opened and that led to successfully firing of the test scramjet engine. The combustion lasted for more than 20 seconds with the vehicle achieving a speed of Mach 6. The vehicle performed successfully on all the pre-determined parametres including the ability to handle combustion temperatures of over 2500 degrees Celsius as well as air speed.

HSTDV is an unmanned scramjet demonstration aircraft for hypersonic speed flight. Besides its utility for long-range cruise missiles of the future, the technology has multiple civilian applications also. It can be used for launching satellites at low cost.

Only US, Russia and China had tested similar kind of technology.
AFAIK China is yet to flight test a air breathing hypersonic vehicle . they have done ground tests only till now , correct me if I am wrong.

These are just experimental vehicles , but I have some pictures of what Chinese netizens called a Scramjet test , a rocket and a Scramjet like thing in a launch facility . Those are rare pictures it's somewhere in my HDD , but it was looked much like a toy for me. So most probably Chinese Scramjet Research is behind India and we should maintain the lead and should beat them

As such, hardly any military automobiles get imported, isn’t it?

Latest was Renault Sherpa, that too by NSG & CRPF not IA.
You are right. India has made good progress in military Vehicles from the times of Shaktimans.

But look how many fools our own DPSU BEML made of the country on Tatra. We still import Crazs, Volvo, Scanias etc...

TATA and Ashok Layland are not ready to invest on heavy engine and vehicle technologies. They are unwilling to explore the world markets in heavy vehicles. Everyone in India wants a captive market.

Tractor factories the world over can manufacture heavy vehicles and tanks but out own L&T, Mahindra, Escorts and Swaraj are not ready to manufacture heavy tractors ( I know there is no market for such machines in India as Caterpillars or John Deere make but there is big market in India for construction machinery, No one makes those, BEML or Escorts manufacture light and lower quality products.

It's more of a market limitation i think.
Force Motors manufactures engines and supplies engines to almost all european majors like mercedes, BMW etc
Caterpillar, John deere , Komatsu & JCB all have manufacturing plants in india, all of them export from here.

I just hope the Brahmos at Next Generation Coastal Missile Battery have range in excess of 600km... better if 900km... Will prove effective from Andaman Islands against PLAN Warships at Malacca Strait.
Range will be determined by the offboard land based sensors range .

Though it is possible , that they might include air based sensors , in that case range will be exceed 300 km .
