There ia nothing called derivative of an engine unless it is the same engine with minor modifications. The PTAE engine is too small and the UAV will need about 20-25kN engine. We can't convert 2-3kN engine to something 10 times more powerful.

Moreover, PTAE engine is turbojet, not turbofan engines. This means the derivative makes no sense

4.22 KN as per Janes. The UAV will weigh 1300 Kg.

If it has to be a wingman, it can't fly at low speeds of 100kmph. So, it must have higher thrust engines. 4kN will be fine only for slow moving drones.
Maybe they will use the PTAE7 at first as it is a proven engine, but later use a variant of Manik engine when it is ready.

DRDO statement on today’s tests of the guided Pinaka rocket system:

Defence Research and Defence Organisation (DRDO) today successfully test fired the Guided PINAKA from Pokhran ranges. The weapon system is equipped with state-of-the-art guidance kit comprising of an advanced navigation and control system. In both the missions, the weapon systems impacted the intended targets with high precision and achieved desired accuracies. Telemetry Systems tracked and monitored the vehicle all through the flight path. All the mission objectives have been met. The indigenously developed Guided Pinaka by DRDO will significantly boost the capability of the artillery to make precision hits.

Babaji broke this news at 4.53 PM but @ani posted this news at 5.13 PM. Babaji was first one to reveal this on twitter

But how did both BabaBanaras and ANI make the same error of stating that the test was conducted in Balasore (as opposed to Pokhran)? DRDO press release was clear that it was Pokhran!
So, BabaBanaras doesn't have any exclusive source......he's just sourcing from other news agencies (probably ANI itself). Not sure about the tweet's timestamps though!
