When will they even arrive
Unsung and underrated hero.
Previously it was PTAE-7. But yesterday I believe, we tested it for first time with Olympus HP GT engine. What engine does this use anyone knows?
Somebody tell the big brains in charge of this acquisition that the Sig 716i is a Battle rifle chambered in 7.62 NATO, not a carbine in 5.56. It's like they don't know what they want, and once they have it they don't know what to do with it. BUY MAGNIFIER OPTICS FOR YOUR BATTLE RIFLES, WHY IS THIS SO HARD TO COMPREHEND. Somebody please tell me what role will these battle rifles fulfill with a 1.5x holo. Guard duty ? room entry ? VBSS ? GET CARBINES. Oh ? you mean you're going to issue frontline field units with holo sights on their BATTLE RIFLE ? GTFOutta here
Ok. And why are you getting hyper ?Somebody tell the big brains in charge of this acquisition that the Sig 716i is a Battle rifle chambered in 7.62 NATO, not a carbine in 5.56. And what is a Turkish eotech ripoff even doing here?
He already explained the reason.Ok. And why are you getting hyper ?
To begin with, we have not ordered those. He already explained the reason.
Is this Netra style a better design than the standard rotodome AWACS? or is it like this because of some budget or aircraft size constraint?
Rotodome provides 360 degree coverage whereas this gives 120 degree coverage. Is this Netra style a better design than the standard rotodome AWACS? or is it like this because of some budget or aircraft size constraint?
240 not 120Rotodome provides 360 degree coverage whereas this gives 120 degree coverage.

On second note, yes, even on guard duties soldiers do carry Sig 716. So holographic sights on these rifles are as relevant as other sights.
Yeah. 120 on both sides.240 not 120
Sig 716 is an standard issue rifle, not a special purpose rifle. It means a guard of the unit who has been issued with these rifles would carry it and a soldier on patrolling duty too would carry the same. These are not specialized issue guns.View attachment 239656
My concern is they have put holos on these guns before and they'll keep doing it. Why should a guard need a battle rifle. An SBR or a carbine is sufficient. This is just the old "put new guns into the hands of people guarding this important spot, they'll look good" mindset. No thought is being spared on how to effectively utilize these guns. We even saw a few in the hands of a VBSS crew boarding a ship. Any role aside from marksmen is a gross misuse of these guns. Especially when Army can't figure out what caliber should be it's mainstay.
Hopefully you are right and these get standardized with more orders. But looking at their limited current numbers, then looking at the number of frontline troops who could use every rifle with optics. Seems a bit wasteful.Sig 716 is an standard issue rifle, not a special purpose rifle. IA is using these specialized sights too as per requirement.

It's about budget. Netra type will be cheaper to procure and operate while providing 240° coverage. Is this Netra style a better design than the standard rotodome AWACS? or is it like this because of some budget or aircraft size constraint?
At least numbers are not piecemeal. 6+6 is good batch. Previous 3+3 means we will have total 18 awacs .
Onward 2027.When will they even arrive
