It looks like such a proposal is physically possible ..
Don't get your hopes up.
But from 12 new su 30s 1 is for HAL only right to test stuff so that could be something

Just want to say regarding defence development in India
We are developing many things despite many respective shortcomings from development org, MoD and military
But even those things which are developed and tested aren't serving their respective roles due to delayed and lethargic procurement of such items and even if procurement happens quantity remains less

Ok so kaveri is going on tejas or su 30mki? Or both
If not full size testbed, MIG29 is THE perfect candidate. Anything else is a fool's paradise. Rd93 Engine's weight-dimensions match the Kaveri most .

Some of you are afraid that if something happens to Kaveri engine in mid flight, should we trust single engine RD93, meanwhile porkies have pretty safely managed to fly single engine Jf17 with same engine.

The problem is not Kaveri's size but the aircraft.
Su-30s are perfect cause they can house the testing equipments due to their large size.
Air Cmdre idea was to house Kaveri in a pod much like how it's tested in Russia.

The proposal is to pod the kaveri and hang it from the wing . For testing purposes this is more ideal than placing the engine in place of the a main one .. taking out the engine and examining it is easier if it's exposed in the open like the underwing proposal.
Also adding monitoring equipment like @gyann mentioned above .

I've seen the video, he said Kaveri alone weighs ~1150kg + housing case(like it's fitted in illusin-76) = 1500 kg ,
it's way too much for wing pylon .

And about those testing equipments, why can't we place them In place of spinal tank, there is substantial space and power for everything .

Additionally in below video after 3:30 min mark,
you can check that ex-GTRE director , current DG-aero Siddiqui sir himself is lobbying for LCA/Mig29 .
It means we are in very advanced stages of engine , and dont need lots of testing equipments.
