DRDO makes no effort to hire any particular talent esp. from IITs/IISC., It's all through GATE paper.

IITians go to the high-paying tech sector or study abroad for specialized fields like Aerospace and Space engineering rather than going to HAL/DRDO.

Only a few (1-2) students are illogically patriotic enough to join DRDO/HAL/Other PSUs. They either quickly become part of the lethargic system or quit prematurely.

Two important projects Nirbhay and Rustom/Tapas both failed and both from ADE, Bangalore. So was Nishant. Few years back the director of ADE was changed (the guy headed Astra project) but seems like no major impact. ADE under previous directors had various scandals as well.

Really sad. Govt must move these two important projects to Dr APJAK Missile Complex in Hyderabad.

Have those sadak chaap iranian scientists been able to develop SATCOM, been able to develop and demonstrate ATOL, been able to demonstrate to trasnfer command and control of the UAV from a ground station to a ship??

Ofcourse both are of completely different category and can't replace each other
I am fine with 31 mq-9 but the issue is the nos won't stop there it will increase on other hand tapas orders will decrease to compensate the cost wrt extra mq-9
Many osints were reporting the decrease in order then reports emerged military asking drdo to get back 36000feets/24hrs and suddenly crash occurred after that no update indicates that its being pushed away for more mq-9 in future
And nowhere tapas can stand infront of mq-9 but it's indigenous and satisfies our requirements then it's way greater than mq-9

The Su-30MKI MLU which envisages new radar, IRST, EW suite, glass cockpit, avionics will finally be cleared by MoD. The project is worth Rs 65000 crores. 90 Su-30MKI will be upgraded in the first tranch and the rest 160 will be upgraded in batches.

Project Kusha, ie indigenous S-400 equivalent has also been cleared. IAF will be buying 5 LRSAM units for Rs 21,700 crores.

6 more Netra mk1A and ISTAR acs are also on the cards.

Nice nice nice.

Our air defence and 4th+ gen fighter strength will be very good but we need drone swarm... more and more drones and low cost sjort range cruise missiles.

Few years back everyone knew drones will have impacts in wars and they had critical impact in Ukraine and Armenia. But our babus are waiting for another '27th Feb' to mass produce drones like following

They said initially that Nirbhay will be our first subsonic low flying cruise missike, desi Tomahawk. After repeated failure it became TD. Soon Tapas will also become TD. MoD must fund private companies to develop bigger UCAVs and drone swarms. In the line of Turkey.

Drones like Kizilelma which going to make first flight soon, in the hand of PAF will be nightmare for IA/IAF. While FUFA will go through all sorts of tests like winter test, summer test, rain test, sun test, moon test, underwater test, approvals thn various lengthy design reviews, AON, RFI, RFP, CCS, BCCI, LGBTQ and many other approvals.
