Look at the lateral thruster. You would have a fair idea.
lateral thrusters creates a lateral force in any direction which allows the missile to get closer to its target without high acceleration manoeuvres ( manuver the missile while it remains pointed at the target ) and within the lowest possible reaction time.

Generally seen in atgms because of the necessity of the above reasons.

But also preferred solution for the best high altitude maneuverability of missiles ie SAMs. Air is thin at high altitudes , not enough deflection generated from the moving fins etc so lateral thrusters can provide the required deflection without fail and latency

Noted the thrusters earlier , yet no idea
So you tell me

oh,dear... you can't always be like this ...
---------
it's your own AKASH's body part with so typical shaped wing attached...the so called 'lateral thruster' is just the ramjet air inlet without the long tube...

and the SAM-6/CUBE is such a legacy design of around 1960s

Yes can see that now , the usual rear fins (booster section) are not installed in the picture I posted , giving the impression of the naked mountings ( at the far end of the picture) as fore fins and the intakes as thrusters.

my apologies for the mistake and thank you.

As for " such a legacy design " and "you can't always be like this " remark

Come on now , I hope you realised the irony

ISRO nanosat ejection system

Interesting given the many possible military application's of such a system if applied on a mother carrier satellite especially ASAT applications ie to release killer nanosats/picosats from a mother satellite ( possibly disguised as a civilian satellite or even dual role )

Or even carry on-demand payload satellites for ELINT etc hidden inside the mother satellite to be released incase of emergencies like war etc and thus hid the secondary capabilities as the mother satellite will carry on with its primary civilian duties. Thus fooling observers as to the availability of additional capabilities

This should be of huge interest to many......

I was always searching for the air dropped " very large fuel air explosive ( FAE ) bomb of unidentified type " and have not found it till date and I know about the air dropped nuke which is a next generation upgrade from the one whose pic i posted sometime ago.

DRDO has published info on a smaller 500 kg FAE bomb , but I have reasons to believe there is a larger one , it's need was felt during Kargil , availablity of huge FAE bomb would have killed those pigs inside bunkers because of the tremendous overpressure effect combined with oxygen deprivation.

Conventional bombs with fragmentation warheads are not much effective because it needs pin point strikes on a single bunker and even then might fail to penetrate the bunker with the fragments not even reaching the interior. Multiple pinpoint strikes needed to incapacitate a multi bunker complex. While a single large FAE bomb will do the job in single strike.

And on another note it seems NSA and CIA has completely breached indian security at some point of time around 2004 and maybe till date.

Three NSA sites worked in tandem to breach indian military signals and comms, mainly targetting nuclear and missile programs.

1.Australia NSA facility codenamed RAINFALL

2.Thailand NSA facility codenamed INDRA

3.Thailand NSA facility codenamed LEMONWOOD

Interestingly LEMONWOOD is a Foreign Satellite (FORNSAT) collection facility.

In 2004 RAINFALL facility had successfully geolocated signals of a suspected Indian nuclear weapons storage facility. This prompted the Foreign Satellite (FORNSAT) collection facility, LEMONWOOD, and the Unidentified Signal and Protocol Analysis Branch (S31124) at NSA /CIA to collaborate in isolating these signals and, through signals development, confirm their content as related to Indian nuclear weapons.

@sayareakd I hope now you get the context regarding the recent conversation we had relating to what actually happens while snooping for info during missile testfires.

The NSA/ CIA then had to bring in additional demodulating equipments to LEMONWOOD in order to expand a modest collection effort undertaken since the signal was discovered in October. Reportedly they also managed to compromise all our SATCOM links.

NSA/CIA also reportedly has a very sophisticated data crawler named APPARITION running from its embassy in delhi.

The APPARITION program reportedly pinpoints the locations of people accessing the Internet across sensitive locations among other surveillance activities.

Note : believe at your own risk

Civilian work on generation of HPM and ultra wideband EM impulse etc led by BARC which might someday find utility in DRDO DEW programs.

Read the insribed description on the pictures, especially the repetitive multi shot capability of LIA-400 , in comparison KALI is a single shot system, also LIA-400 utilizes relativistic magnetron which offers the highest efficiency for producing HPM in comparison to other systems.

RRCAT is the go to institute which does cutting edge stuff with strategic implications
