Consider it India's analogue to global prompt strike weapon except for global it will be at a tactical level and possibly strategic level to take out HVTs in a time critical scenario.

Definitely not anti tank , you don't use a sword to chop potatoes do you ?
You mean to say our "russian hypersonic missile that has caused uproar more in britain(jokers) than in USA", right na?

Rudra 3 is rumoured to be hypersonic.

Rudra 2 and 2a are rumoured to be high supersonic.

Will have to wait for official confirmation.

If you recollect many years ago when the news of K series first broke out there was mention of a strategic air launched hypersonic article .

After that no further news on it. Interesting isn't it ?

I remembered something

https://salute.co.in/military-modernisation-indian-air-force/

IAF chief

Other weapons developed are the SAAW (Smart Anti Airfield Weapon), Dhruv Astra an anti surface missile and a new generation anti radiation missile—the Rudram-1. We also have the Rudram-2 and Rudram-3 missiles which are variants of the Rudram-1 with different functions for ground attack.
DRDO docs mentions Rudra M2 , Rudra M2A and Rudra M3

Names are so similar
Therefore is the both set of missiles the same system ?

Both series of missiles are ASM that is confirmed.

Also note worthy is Rudra M3 is a 1.6 ton missile and design seems same as the Rudra pic posted above

@Chinmoy @sayareakd what do you think ?

Looks like work on Rudra 2&3 is going in parallel.

Can't say anything. Till date I have only seen schematics of Rudra. There are many conflicting reports about their role and all. Only yesterday I got a view of one missile which is supposedly Rudra.

Nope.
The missile which is in the wind tunnel, the one posted by Sayerakd and the missile with NeXoft007 and Indian Defense forum labels are different.

Look at the fins just above the nozzle. They are of different shapes. These fins are for aerodynamic control and therefore they are movable.

The lift generating very low aspect ratio wings / surfaces are also different. Having different shapes.

These two missiles aren't the same.

This article by Sandeep Unnithan is from Nov 20,2010. Its on the K series of missile family.

The air launched hypersonic missile that Sandeep is talking about must be the Rudra M3. 200 percent. According to the initial time-line, the prototype would have been ready by 2012. It's a classified and black project.

As Porky kicker had said, it is part of our own version of Prompt Global strike program. The advancements we have made since 2010 in the field of solid propellants, I feel the air launched article aka Rudra M3 has a range much greater than 200 km.

It can be called our own Kh-47M2.

Also we have a desi ASMP-A missile with a 600 km under developement.

If you are talking about the fins, look at the circled part.
