Big W for french, they are gonna develop a next gen engine with our money , what are we getting in return, huh?? old M-88 tech, disguised as next gen, while they are secretly developing a exotic engine for FCAS..
So this new engine which will be developed we won't have any access to it? We will not use it?
You guys keep on crying on everything... We do not have good engine developed in 30 years. Any move to get any sort of deal to get future engine which makes our fighters sanction free is not enough.

Navy is likely to prefer sea skimming missile for anti ship role over any missile with ballistic trajectory.
Then why is navy so hell bent on perfecting launching ballistic missiles from ship? If I'm not wrong the as of now some 7-8 tests of Dhanush have been done.
Why exactly is DRDO working on developing an anti-ship version of Agni-P?
Further, NASM-MR is likely to be more advanced than Kh-35 and cheaper than Brahmos NG and most importantly indigenous.
Is NASM-MR stealth like LRASM? Is NASM-MR fast like BrahMos? If no, then it's not much better than Kh-35
DRDO STAR is another candidate for supersonic sea skimming anti ship missile.
In current configuration it's nothing more than a Desi GQM-163 Coyote...no warhead, no seeker, just an engine, fuel tank and rudimentary guidance. You'll need considerable time to first mature the liquid fuelled ramjet engine and then scale everything up to make an AShM

But even then it makes absolutely zero sense to develop another liquid-fuelled ramjet AShM from ground up when we already have BrahMos for heavier operations and BrahMos NG for lighter.

The Dhanush is used as a practice for AD missiles, that it.

Nope, 1st Mk-2 which gonna roll-out next year, itself will be a SP standard aircraft, there will not be any separate LSP like we had in Mk-1 program
FYI-
1. LSP means Limited Series Production . similar to Low Rate Initial Production
2. ADA already said first 3 aircrafts will be prototypes
LSP is a necessity, if the product in new. IAF will use LSP/LRIP aircraft for testing and evaluation process, once it meet minimum requirement, IAF clear IOC
Also, there is no separate LSP in Mk-1 program. Three stages, 1. TD stage, 2. prototype stage and 3. LSP/LRIP stage. LCAmk2 lacks TD stage, but having proto type stage[ADA] and LSP stage[IAF]

While the IAF has ordered 56 C-295 aircraft — each capable of carrying cargo up to 9 tonnes — Airbus officials confirmed that they, along with TATA, are in talks with the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard for the procurement of up to 15 additional aircraft of which nine will be deployed for maritime surveillance.

However, sources in the defence and security establishment told ThePrint that the BSF which also operates the Avros, is looking at procuring C-295 aircraft, besides one of the security agencies that is looking to use the aircraft for technical surveillance.

Moreover, the TATA group could also market this aircraft to other countries.

The Dhanush is used as a practice for AD missiles, that it.
It's being fired since 2000, there were no anti-ballistic AD back then to practice. Of all the tests done some were simply to measure the CEP of hitting water.
Soon Dhanush will be history once we decommision Sukanya class and Rajput class warships. Unless the IN is planning new batch of ships to be armed with Dhanush.
It was history the day it got inducted...having RFNA on ship, a special contraption to launch, only one vessel capable of launching it...it was never meant to a weapon, it was only there to test ADs and hone AShM technologies.
