Guys in March 2022, DRDO had released an RFP for development of Advanced Armoured Platform (AAP-Tr) & 30mm crewless turret. They had released some designs for the turret & AAP-Tr as well.

Likely will be a 70:30 split between Bharat Forge and Tata Power SED respectively, similar to the original contract of 150 guns which were cleared by DAC by 2016.

Fleetwide replacement. Brass saw that steel was 8 times cheaper, figured wear and tear rate would be similar due to how much we fly anyway, went for the cheaper option.
