Literally every tank expert says the complete opposite of all the bs you just sputtered out. So, just put a lid on it for now, will ya??
They say complete opposite of all the bs I sputtered? All the bs!?

They say that the 10 extra rounds of T-90M are ready rounds, not emergency? They say that it's the ammo that catches fire not propellant? They say that ammo sits above propellant in T-Series tanks? They say propellant are insensitive?

Care to elaborate Mate? Or have no opinion of your own?

Arre I know...it's just funny how people think they can reverse a design flaw with proper training.

The first time Murican F-4 Phantoms got into a combat they're not having any guns; it was a design flaw.
No matter how hard they trained their pilots or whatever improvisations they made this design flaw kept coming back to bite them time and time. Forcing them to add 20mm gun pods on the fighters and ultimately adding a ful fledged dogfight system.

In 2001 Chinis designed Type 99 MBT and continuing with the old Soviet legacy added a carousel type autoloader. But when in 2018 they designed Type 15 they went with Western bustle type autoloader.
Oh agreed. The stupid carousel is a dead horse holdover from the T64. Needs to have been long gone.

But I get the Chieftain's point as well, especially in our context. There's no way in hell we can get rid of all T90s quickly. The T72s need to be gone, so might as well focus on training and upgrades while we wait for Arjun mkIA and FMBT program.

Just drop it, kid, you ain't fooling noone. You deliberately chose those few exact points that you KNEW no one would contradict, but guess what, None of these are the main points of concern pertaining to this particular line of debate!! You think you are more clever than the rest of us plebs, don't you?? Well, news flash - you ain't!!
No, the debate was about whether the ammo stowage in Russian MBTs (Imma keep it restricted to the T-72 and T-90 series simply because these are the ones our army operates) is more prone to catastrophic ammo explosions (yeah, yeah, I know, I know, propellant explosion would be a more apt term) as compared to what is found on NATO style MBTs.
And the answer is - NO!! They are not!! Except for the Abrams, every other MBT model has the same or even higher chances of getting ammo racked in case of a penetrating hit, and that's been the general consensus among the experts, because that IS the FUCKING FACT!!

Scoring a direct hit on AZ style carousels that are found in the T-90/72 series MBTs is next to impossible from the frontal arc. However, the autoloaders of the T-64/80 series of tanks, on the other hand, are a completely different story.

But interestingly not only we can keep our T-90s but also make those T-72s comparable to T-90s.

As I said people have already upgraded T-72s to use both NATO spec 120mm guns and bustle mounted autoloader.

We have a huge fleet of T-72/90, don't you think firms like John Cockerill would die to grab a once in a lifetime opportunity like this to upgrade our turrets!?
We just need to have a clear and future centric strategic intent of what exactly we want to achieve.

Abrams and Merkava, but to be honest, the carousel design is precisely where Anti Armor teams aim for in a tank as a weak spot.

From the frontal arc, yeas, from the side - Moscow, we have a problem.

Exactly

Having a good protection in frontal arc only solve half of the problem; APFSDS. You still have the problem of ATGMs which are going to attack from top. And from top there's just the thin top armour then an air gap of turret and the jet directly gets access to the carousel.

Don't know why it's so tough for people to understand that even if a Western tank comes in combat with no hull ammunition whatsoever, they'll still have 10 (Merkava 4) to 16 (K2) ready rounds with cook-off protection. But in case of Russian tanks that number is 0.

Cover the entire turret roof with heavy ERA panels and add a thickened protective screen around the carousel - like the Ruskies did with their T-90M.
Is that a perfect solution?? Not at all!! But it's still better than the current set up. And let's face it, if your tank gets hit by a top attack ATGM, then chances are that the turret crew will get whacked regardless of which tank they happen to be sitting in.

Does anyone have any update on whether DRDO glide bombs have been inducted ? Also what is their trajectory ? Can they also fly below radar?

1. No
2. The same followed by all glide bombs; the more altitude it's dropped the farther it can go.
3. Whatever he's saying regarding flying below the radar is pure bs. If a glide bombs achieves altitude below the radar then it means it hardly has 4-5 seconds before it hits the ground. Only cruise missiles can achieve this below the radar flight coz they are in powered flight, not unpowered like glide bomb.
