But Skunk works is known for using and reusing again and again already developed subsystems and processes. In fact, it was one of Kelly Johnson's 11 basic rules of engineering: "don't reinvent the wheel, reuse things if you can"
Believe me, I know. Kelly is smiling out of my profile pic.
They reuse sub-systems so that they can save time and focus more on new innovation. Here they do because they wanna save themselves from innovation itself

Air launched 25kg missile can easily reach 10km.

But how the heck they want a ground launch missile to have enough fuel in that 25kg to reach 10km!?
I really would like to know what stuff these guys were smoking while bringing up these weight requirements.

Spike ER, an ATGM which can strike targets 8km away has a weight of 34kg and the launcher weighs another 30kg.
Thats 64kg in total.
Heck even I maintain a rudimentary reference sheet of missiles

Almost all the missiles that goes to 8km and beyond have their ranges in 30-50kg bracket

What the hell were they referring to while drafting requirements!?

@Lonewolf Previously, we thought the missile is having similar diameter to MRSAM (225m) + Booster but now this video says 350mm.
Well actually we all are correct; it has a diameter of both 225mm and 350mm.

Go through this
Except the fact that we know ERSAM's booster is very small compared to AD-1's

- this overall length of 1.1 meters matches that of Barak-ER booster. Barak-8 ER is 4.5m and Barak ER is 6; a booster of 1.5m.
- also the diameter where it's supposed to attach with the missile is roughly 250mm, which again matches closely with the 225mm of LRSAM
The "diameter where it's supposed to attach with a missile is roughly 250mm" not the whole booster but the narrower end of the booster. The diameter of the booster is listed in this schematic itself; 350mm.

So the actual missile is still of 225mm but the additional booster is of 350mm diameter.

Electronics, batteries, motors and all yes, but this wasnt something you can go out and buy off the shelf.
I can buy a Chinese FPV chassis with BLDC motors and propellers under 10k. Another 10k and I'll have a flight control systems together with GPS. The only thing I'll be needing now is few grams of ammonium nitrate and some ball bearings.
Again, sorry cant give too much detail else I'll be doxxing myself
🥱
