You are correct, we should be more excited. The reason is, BMD is such a niche technology that it might never see the light of day. Perhaps protecting coastal cities or from Chinese anti-ship ballistic missiles, but that too a far-fetched scenario.

Loiter munitions are more practical and effective. Likely to be used and be the game-changing factor.
BMD is absolutely critical for next phase of India defence.
Just like USA Indian Navy will in future field multiple ships capable of BMD besides land based BMD.
Yes it will take decades to mature and operational hence slow response on forum .

Dude just compared it to sm 3 , dia of sm 3 was 0.34m for second stage , and now it's 0.54m for whole missile.
And then he extrapolated to assume length to be around 8.5m.
Good observation. This missile is although comparable to/better than Aster-30 Block-1NT in performance. Let's see how the AD-2 comes up to be. That is our SM-3 version.

Don't want to hurt fragile sentiments...
Arre no issues mate...how can someone hurt sentiments if he's wrong!

- the control surfaces on 48N6 are too short compared to diameter. Look at the height of the control surfaces on the first missile
- perhaps the biggest giveaway, 48N6's fins end at the nozzle...so there shouldn't be any any gap between the fins and the exhaust plume. But look at the gap between the fins and the exhaust in the first pic.
- it's very subtle but in case of 48N6 the body tapers slightly before the radome. But in case of AAD it's a plain cylindrical body with a radome.

Just imagine, a single NGD will be capable of carrying all 4 types of BMD missiles - AAD, PDV, AD-1 and AD-2. Providing absolute defence against any incoming missile be it SRBM, MRBM and IRBM.

But compared to AD-1 the "Dart" of Aster-30 is much more lightweight, so ultimately the weight difference doesn't matter that much.

Heck even the warhead on Aster-30 is just 15kg, traditional missiles like AMRAAM have 20kg warhead.
Dart ?? I don't recall that it has a dart
