You are wrong in this instance. Hydroflow matters when it comes to being silent. And that boxy design will cause water separation and boundary issues in water flow over the sail and to the back end.

Because of factors that make way more noise than a simple boundary layer separation; like shaft or propeller or tip vortices or trail.

Moreover as depth increases the behaviour of hydrodynamic also changes.

I hate that boxy design at the aft half of the sub. Get rid of the boxy design and go for a more contoured look.

yes you can from looking at the evolution of the submarine design. Look at the progression of sub design from USS Nautilus to Thresher to Los Angeles to Seawolf and Polaris to Ohio class and now to the next generation SBMN class.
