Arjun 2.0- order minimal numbers that will ensure unit costs are sky high and indigenous content minimal. Then use this as an excuse to get 1000s of imported toys (ATHOS/T90)

all of a sudden the Indian armed forces have decided they’ll only ever provide 10-20% of their required numbers and leave 90-80% to the RFI gods
Nah, they made the right choice as far as Arjun "MBTs" are concerned but this dillydallying with ATAGS has no excuse at all.

Better metamaterial based stuff is already made in IIT Kanpur and NAL. This is not very broadband. AMCA will have better options than these.
Metamaterial have some properties which put it at disadvantage, can you give some related material about what iit kanpur research you are talking about ,i may get you some treat πŸ˜‰

Well the guy who developed those particular meta materials is a alum of iit Kanpur, mtech and PhD from there , he got a lab under him

"absorbs more than 90% of EM waves within the range of 7.97–20.72 GHz "
This is a very interesting transparent one that is also flexible. They have been working on this for a long time now. They made a scratch resistant coating for it and now working on adhesives. It can survive above 500K temp so should be fine for aircraft < Mach 2.2.
"absorption bandwidth in the frequency range of 7.36 GHz to 14.05 GHz with absorptivity nearly 99% at the normal incidence. "
This is -20dB bandwidth material.
They are also working on excimer laser micromachining for making them.
"proposed structure has more than 99 % of absorption from the frequency range 3.15 GHz to 8.4 GHz "
This is for S and C band.
There was also a HAL research on RAS:
" RA is designed for -15 dB reflectivity from 6.2 GHz to 18 GHz. Embedded Passives (EP) resistor "
This is for UAV skin application but no reason why is can't be used for AMCA it is flightworthy
From NAL:
" The simulation result of the novel design over an ultra-wideband (1 to 60 GHz) yields good absorption (99.93 %). "
This last one is insane but its manufacturing maybe tough as it will have to have large area graphene sheets which is a challenge. I am posting the pdf I got from SciHub.
Other than that there are also Radar and IR absorber in the same material called biStealth absorber

Damn .. Thank you for this.. Looks like all parts required for a complete stealth aircraft are already in the laboratory stage.

Exclusive: India’s defence major iComm signs deal with UAE to make country β€˜Aatmnirbhar’ for small arms
New Delhi:
In a historic move and a major push towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Aatmnirbhar Bharat vision, MEIL group company iComm on Tuesday became the first Indian private company to sign a Transfer of Technology agreement with UAE’s Caracal to manufacture firearms for local market.

Sources close to development told Times Mow that iCOMM will locally manufacture CARACAL’s complete line of small arms for the Indian market, powering the β€˜Make in India’ initiative.

Among the arms to be manufactured are CARACAL EF pistol, modern CMP 9 submachine gun, CAR 814, CAR 816 and CAR 817 tactical rifles, CAR 817 DMR tactical sniper rifle, CSR 50 anti-material sniper rifle, CSR 338 and CSR 308 bolt action sniper rifles and the CSA 338 semi-automatic sniper rifle, officials informed.

The signing took place at the ongoing IDEX 2023 in Abu Dhabi, UAE, one of the largest tri-service defence exhibitions in the world.

Sumanth P, Managing Director of ICOMM, said, β€œIndia’s Defence industry is on a strong path to develop its sovereign manufacturing capabilities. This agreement exemplifies the commitment shown by CARACAL to aid India’s ambitions towards making the defence sector self-sufficient.”

The Indian Government seriously took up the indigenisation of Defence manufacturing, allowing the private sector to manufacture weapons, breaking the age-old view to ensure no disruptions in the supply chain. Our entry into small arms production is a proud moment for us, added.

CARACAL’s complete line of small arms will be produced in ICOMM’s world-class design, development and manufacturing centre in Hyderabad. ICOMM is one of the largest companies manufacturing missiles & sub-systems, communications & EW systems, radars, electro-optics, composites, loitering munitions, shelters, drone & counter-drone systems.

Nah.. its fine, no need to re-invent wheel.
Its just licencing. Not much of ToT is required in these projects.

In my opinion Atmnirbhar means during war-time we should be able to make these things on our own without fear of sanctions or ban. and in wartime such licence goes out of the window. we will make what we want.

Screwdrivergiri is only harmful in places where we are still dependent on critical components on others like engine/ EW. hence we could be at the mercy of someone else.
