Imagine, A couple wants to kill their yet to born child during infancy and childhood but some how child survived and now same child is saving parents ass after reaching adulthood.

This is the exact relationship between Tejas and IAF.

I respect Russian for this simple reason, no matter how bad world claims about their weapons and performance but at the end they are on the ground and wining while world’s best weapons sitting somewhere and crying in diaper.

Worst thing is they wasted 2 good years to place mk1a orders.
If they had placed it in 2019, the deliverys would've been started already

If it is for the sake of an airframe that's no longer being used...the Technology demonstrators, the initial prototypes and some of the limited series ones are no longer in operation.
TD-1 in storage, canibalized, some time after ceasing operations (pic of 2009)

They can literally get an airframe thats airworthy but not used and test on that (at least on the ground, for some time)

That is 'common sense' and it is damn uncommon thing among defense establishment (both govt and military branches) here, but i think it's even more sinister-it's just outright shear unwillingness at play here and if you'd take a dive in various defense programs of past-present you'll find it's not that uncommon either.

Things are just like that here 🤷‍♂️

C295 is not even close a400m from same company is in similar class
same with c130, c17, c2, etc but the main problem/question is that, what iaf want ? i think, they are clueless about their need except they want foreign item[no local alternative available].
An 32 need replacement and goi choose c295 and iaf want 2 type of aircraft to replace An32, c295 & mta.
c17, a400m, c2, il76 etc are Strategic airlifter and mta is Tactical airlifter

All of these are expensive to brought in large numbers that is why goi started mta jv with russia and cancelled due to engine issue.

An32 replacements. Now no more c17, iaf considering a400m type aircraft which lies b/w Strategic airlifter & Tactical airlifter .

The upcoming MTA will not only replace An-32 (partially) but also the Il-76 fleet. IAF has quoted a requirement of around 40-80 aircrafts based on the price. These MTA will become the backbone of our air force. For cross country mobility, these MTA will be sufficient and the C-17 will be used mainly for foreign deployment.
