But let's say an aspirant happens to be 190+ cm, then what??
Minimum weight requirement for any aspirant is 49.5 kg at 157.5 cm height. For every cm, 1.5 kg average is allowed during joining procedure. It means at 190 cm, if you are of 98 kg, you would be allowed to join army.
But have you seen any serving GD soldier of 6.2 height with 98 kg ?

No, not really, our riflemen are quite lean. But we were not talking about 98 kg, I think 82 for a 190+ cm guy is quite alright.

BEL poster on Akash NG.

BEL is the production partner for the MFR, active seeker, launchers , various CC vehicle and is the overall integrator of the end product.

DSC00277.JPG

Some imp points.

1.This settles the debate on Akash NG range once and for all. The range is ONLY 30 km and not 50 or 70 km as we had speculated earlier. Maybe the range is a bit higher at 40ish km because DRDO and BEL always understates true ranges.

2. Akash NG is meant to be a replacement for the cumbersome Akash system. Its a compact system with twice the no of missiles per MLV.

3. There is ONLY one radar, the MFR or Mukti Function radar Unlike CAR and FLR for Akash. This radar has a 120 km detection range for 2sqm targets and 80 km engagement range. It provides both surveillance and fire control plus mid course guidance for the missile. Its based on a trailer which indicates its meant for the IAF.

4. Each squadron or rather HUB can have a maximum of 5 Firing units. Each Firing unit has a MFR and a CCU or command and control unit. These two communicate with each other through optical fibre and short range communication radio.

5. Each Firing unit can have a max of 4 Missile launch vehicles. Each missile launch vehicle has 6 Akash NG missiles.

So each Firing unit can have a max of 24 missiles ready to launch. And each hub with 5 FU can have a max of 120 ready to fire missiles. This will take care of saturation strikes .

6. Akash NG missile has an engagement envelope of 3km to 30 km in range and 30 m to 14 km in altitude. 10 targets can be engaged simultaneously in 360 degree azimuth by each MFR.

PTAE-7 is already in Use for Lakshya target drone. Also New Space CATS is supposed to be based on PTAE-7.
HAL is currently redesigning and upgrading the existing PTAE of Lakshya to make it suitable for CATS.

Lakshya target drone has been phased out .

And this is a rational approach. Instead of designing a brand new engine, HAL has taken a proven engine and is making the necessary tweaks to make it for the wingman program. It will save us on time and money. Both of which are at a premium now especially when we have so many new projects to spend on.

correct. Not only that why not reuse existing Turbojets , old turbofans we have been assembling for more UCAV's? We dont need to build from scratch to assuage our ego everytime.

Best option would be Kawasaki C-2. It fits everything but Japanese are hard to deal with. Brazilians are eager to sell so C-390 can give us some more room for negotiation.
or we could join the Koreans in their project.

If AF was headed by intelligent people with foresight, what ever they decide, they would also include a way to develop a C-17 equivalent with the deal ( JV/ToT or what ever it is) to replace the Il-76 and later C-17.
Only if..
well getting japani defense stuff is just so impossibru giving realities with that (made-to-be) pacifist state...else we already could've done deal of those Shinmaywa US-2
