Ask Kawasaki to make the C2 fatter and longer, strap 2 more engines to it, larger wings, Call it the C4. It'll be a bomb.
We can buy C2 in decent numbers and then ask the Japanese partnership to build a C17 equivalent. :daru:
PS: I know all the reasons why it wouldn't work.

Japanese haven't been able to make up their mind on selling us US-2 for a decade now, have to wonder how long will they take to make up their mind on a bigger aircraft.

I thought we were trying to get away from Russian platforms. If not, then continue to buy more IL-76s but upgraded and modernized. They do a bang up job of transporting cargoes to rough airfields in the Himalayas.

Does astra atal has any chance?
Most probably no, and the reason has nothing to do with their pistol
The reason is that they're a start-up so they'll be forced to add a high profit margin on their product to recover cost.
Now compare that to firms like PunjLloyd or Jindal which are well established and have long achieved breakeven; they can sell even on a no-loss-no-profit basis.

Is it ready for trials or still in prototype phase?
Doesn't matter, even prototypes can be submitted in trials.
