How is SMART torpedo useful?
It will need constant monitoring of the submarine either by ship or air platform.
If other platforms are needed to monitor the sub, they can fire the torpedo by themself.

Am I missing something here?
Sonabouys dropped by P8s/ MQ-9B or SOSUS Network or Heavy AUVs or own Submarines or ASW Corvettes. Wherever enemy submarine is detected, SMART can be directed there.

It is mentioned that SMART is designed to be fired from TEL and VLS of the warships. But, isn't it kind of chonky for this? No present VLS is able to launch it. Is there any design change going on in the backend?

Smallest missile we have is prahaar but it doesn't have support for 500kg warhead, rest of the missiles are over 4 ton.
Hope they use cruise missile this time

If we use sosus or sonabuoys will the missile be able to change it's trajectory as it will take some time to cover 500km and sub is also moving at 37kmph
Mid flight target updates, submarines travel slowly so the sensor used to detect that submarine should be able to find out it's bearing, range and speed using various techniques like LOFAR and DEMON analysis and update that info via satcom.
There are various efforts by nations to use UAVs for submarine detection. Like https://navalpost.com/russia-is-working-on-anti-submarine-warfare-drones/

These are supposed to play the same role as strategic long range submarine hunters Tu-142.

IN must be preety confident on its sensor capability that's why SMART missile must have been made, it's not like they made it on whim.

Would recommend to play Dangerous Waters on PC if you want to understand the basics as to how ASW warfare works. It may be frustrating to understand at first but a great sim for understanding basics.

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has successfully rolled out the first batch of Light Utility Helicopters (LUH) in Limited Series Production (LSP)/Initial Operational Clearance (IOC) Configuration for the Indian Army.

The chopper sports three-tone jungle camouflage, based on the Dhruv and Prachand already in service.

The programme is running well on schedule hinted by the fact that the Central Government had assured Parliament in November 2021 that four airframes will be produced by 2022-23.
