- solid fuel rocket motor and follows quasi-ballistic trajectory.

- mid-air maneuvers using maneuverable reentry vehicle. (MARV)

utilises the same composite propellant developed by the High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL) for the Sagarika missile (K-15) from the K Missile family. This composite propellant is extremely powerful and generates more energy compared to the propellant used for the Agni missile series.

The point of these RFI is to get their % not to get the product. The more RFI they float the more kickbacks they get. Just like IAF generals hand over MMRCA boondoggle between generations, IA will do the same here

Not really, they spent millions is designin, marketing and testing after this drama no other private company will make their own products

My understanding is, we (DRDO) are at least 10 years away from developing something of similar endurance and sensor suite to that of MQ-9/RQ-4.
DRDO's struggle with underpowered Tapas has not escaped the attention of govt/armed forces. Even if we start ordering Tapas, it would be in a similar category to Baykar TB2 and Adani's Hermes 900.

Even if we somehow strap a more powerful engine to Rustom, we lack in sensor suite and over-the-horizon satellite communication. I think DRDO is eying these ToTs from General Atomics to use in our own domestic UAV program as well.

Also, 100mln a piece is justified given their capabilities and endurance. In the long run, they will be cheaper than other drones.

I agree that we are far away from developing such drones ourselves and need such capability asap which os why we should just directly import instead of assembling them here and increasing cost of each drone instead we should use the saved money to invest in domestic platform and integrate american sensors on them

I think people are going overboard. Its just a RFI meaning request for information. Its to gather information about the existing products and capabilities. Suitable modifications can be made in RfS/RfP after evaluating the various responses to RFI.
