Must read . 100 times stronger than steel this Bengaluru company manufacturing single walled nanotubes .
NoPo is the only company in the world that manufactures carbon nanotubes of such small diameters. It has already attracted the attention of NITI Aayog, the Navy, and Elon Musk’s Tesla Motors.

But it better than having no subsonic cruise missiles in arsenal
Except costly bhramos what other cruise missile does army have
If we see current conflict Russia used hundreds of Kalibr
Subsonic missiles have their own cost and capability advantage having them is must that too with robust manufacturing capability of it as to scale up during conflict
Let me present to you a general scenario.

ABCD.jpg

Lets assume you want to strike B from A which are lets say 400 km away. Point C, D & E are air defense RADAR which you have to evade in order to reach B. If you follow the path through point D & E, the distance equals to lets say 650 km.

Now, you have to choose between a 500 km Supersonic missile and a 750 km Subsonic missile. Which one would you choose to hit target B? The 500 km missile although would be detected, but the reaction time it would provide to air defense at point B would not be enough to save themselves. But in case of a subsonic missile, if it gets detected by any of these three radar would give the air defense ample time to bring it down.

So which of the missile would you prefer? Obviously a 500 km supersonic missile. A 750 km subsonic missile in this case is not going to give you any advantage over a supersonic one. But yeah, a 1500 km range subsonic missile, which could effectively evade all three radars and could hit the target from other side gives you a huge advantage over a short range supersonic missile.

A low cost solution is not always the preferred one. There should be a balance between cost and capability.

On BEML'S defense, you are comparing a finished product with a first iteration.. Although I can't comment about the quality of the Product
Both the systems are from BEML and both are first iteration. Only difference is, Dhanush was slapped on BEML by OFB, whereas ATAGS was purpose built on BEML carrier.

The reason why IA is not interested on a mounted Dhanush as per reports.

What's the difference between a machine pistol and a sub machine gun ?
It's hard to differentiate between the two as there is no "quantitative" factor or something that you can measure in terms of numbers. Like you do in case of assault rifle vs battle rifle where if it's .308 then it's battle and when it's .223 then it's assault.

Furthermore, there is this European - American thing too; in US a SMG is an assault rifle that fires pistol rounds and any pistol like "thing" capable of full auto fire is machine pistol. But in case of Europe everything is a machine pistol because in almost all of the European languages they use the term "Machine Pistole" for anything that can fire pistol caliber rounds in full auto.

The current classification that we generally use is a "qualitative" one, where if you feel that a SMG is compact enough to be handled as a pistol then it's a machine pistol.
