Ok but can't that be done to akash NG
I think vlsrsam has less range that NG
can Akash-NG replace barak-8 at the moment?
No, Akash NG is inclined launch and Barak-8 vertical launch.

will IN ask for Barak-8 replacement, right now?
probably not, IN has already invested in barak-8 for more than a decade. and their manufacturing lead times span a decade(7-8 years). and design planning 10-15 years for big boats. which means if they want something to be inducted in 2035, they will have to make a decision in 2020.

does DRDO has the capability to develop a vertically launched barak-8 equivalent?
yes, but the user has to ask for it. there are already 1000 barak-8 on order(IA&IN combined)

so what does it mean for defence enthusiasts?
we wait for NGD design to be finalised.

Actually if we can make a dropfit solution then it can be done ,not as a replacement but side by side

IMO, Akash NG is a Quick Reaction system. It is being developed to fulfill the requirements of IAF for LLQRSAM (Low Level Quick Reaction SAM). It will be used to protect airbases and vulnerable points. It will work along with Spyder SAM.

I think NG will not be used by Army as they have their own requirement which will be fulfilled by QRSAM.

I can only guess , but no point in guessing without knowledge of entire system

only the designers can give the perfect and correct answer

Imo position of eo pod will not matter if uav is strictly for air to ground application

Plus it might depend on the space constraints and arrangement of lrus inside the uav so the need to shift it

But nothing can be said with surety
Perhaps they want a radar in the nose? It looks big enough for a small one, atleast.

Though IDK where they will get the power to run it.

It will work as a standalone system. Launcher and Radar on a single truck.

The red one seems to be actually present at Auli, ITBP base and its FIXAR 007. Paras aerospace has collaborated with FIXAR. Rest are just animations.
