8 X brahmos inclined launchers?? Show me where.
4X inclined launchers for Styx ashm exist in the front.
Blue arrow standard Brahmose 8 cell VLS in the position of aft S-125(removed) launcher. Red arrow 16x2 VLS for bark -1 near AK-630 . Today's test was from behind snorkel near Brahmose VLS

Is it a decommissioned ship?? because,what happened to the Brahmose launcher on the same position or it is from a Brahmose canister?
The launch platform was INS Rana, which unlike INS Ranvir and INS Ranvijay, does not carry the aft 8x Brahmos VLS launcher, instead INS Rana used to 2x S125M arm launchers, of which the aft one was replaced with the VLS cells for VL-SRSAM.

Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) on Friday delivered two Autonomous Electric barges for Norway based ASKO Maritime AS.
The ASKO project is an ambitious project in Norway partially funded by the Norwegian Government as a part of a green shipping programme aimed at emission-free transport of goods across the Oslo fjords. These vessels will be managed by M/s. Massterly AS, a joint venture between M/s. Kongsberg, the world leader in autonomous technology and M/s. Wilhelmsen, one of the largest Maritime shipping companies.
ASKO Maritime is the largest supermarket chain in Norway and aims to achieve Zero Carbon emission goals in its logistic service by 2026.
Ms. Loida Olsen, wife of Mr. Kai Just Olsen, Managing Director, ASKO Maritime was the chief guest. The event was attended by Shri Madhu S Nair, Chairman and Managing Director, CSL and other senior CSL officials.
The 67 Mtr long vessels are delivered as Full-Electric Transport Ferries powered by an 1846 kWh capacity battery. After commissioning of autonomous equipment and field trials in Norway, these vessels will operate as fully autonomous ferries of ASKO that can transport 16 fully loaded Standard EU trailers in one go across the fjords. The vessels being built at CSL are designed by Naval Dynamics, Norway using Kongsberg Maritime systems, with detailed engineering carried out by CSL. These vessels are built under DNV GL Classification and flagged in Norway, under the rule regulations of the Norwegian Maritime Authority. Once in operation, these vessels will create a new benchmark for the merchant shipping world in the field of Autonomous Vessels with Zero Carbon Emission.
In a first of its kind event the two vessels will be transported in a yacht transport carrier to Norway. The newly built vessels will be loaded to a large mother ship on Sunday.

DRDO, Indian Navy successfully test VL-SRSAM missile system in Odisha

The launch of the system was conducted against a high-speed aerial target mimicking aircraft, which was successfully engaged.

Senior officials of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Navy successfully flight-tested a vertical launch short range surface to air missile (VL-SRSAM) earlier today. The test was conducted from Indian Naval Naval Ship, off the coast of Odisha’s Chandipur, news agency ANI reported.




The launch of the system was conducted against a high-speed aerial target mimicking aircraft, which was successfully engaged. Flight path of the vehicle along with health parameters was monitored using a number of tracking instruments deployed by ITR, Chandipur.


A DRDO official told the news agency, “Vertical Launch Short Range Surface to Air Missile was successfully flight tested today by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Navy. The launch was conducted from Indian Naval Ship, off the coast of Chandipur, Odisha.”


Defence Minister Rajnath Singh shared some pictures from the flight test and wrote, “Congratulations to DRDO, Indian Navy and the industry for the successful flight test of Vertical Launch Short Range Surface to Air Missile off the coast of Chandipur, Odisha. This success will further enhanced the defence capability of Indian Naval Ships against the aerial threats.”

Admiral R Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff, said the development of this indigenous missile system will bolster the Indian Navy’s defensive capabilities.


Secretary of R&D at Department of Defence and DRDO Chairman Dr G Satheesh Reddy said the test has proven the integration of indigenous weapon system onboard Indian Naval Ships, while adding that the VL-SRSAM will prove to be a force multiplier for the Indian Navy. Dr G Satheesh Reddy also hailed the missile system as another milestone towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat mission.


The VL-SRSAM is a ship-borne weapon system and is meant to neutralize aerial threats at close ranges including sea-skimming targets.

Not necessarily, SANT missile works in 2 ways, lobl and loal mode with guidance method being mmw seeker. In LOBL mode, mmw simply locks onto the target and homes into it, lock is obtained through slaving of seeker to EO pod, radar SAR or a mmw radar. While in LOAL mode you simply feed coordinates of target to INS of missile, missile flies to the target area, activates seeker to search in certain area zone, locks on to target and do its thing, INS feed is through EO or radar data.
There are 2 things I am not sure about:-
1) How does mmw seeker differentiate between let's say 2 tanks standing next to each other in LOAL mode as the data is not imagery but some radar return, so lch may designate target on left in LOAL mode but the missile may hit the right side target.
2) How does a pilot choose to retarget SANT when the received data is not an imagery but some radar return plot and hence targeting pop up targets based on priority is a problem.

However, SANT will be more reliable in acquiring armored targets in any kind of weather, even in sandstorms than the HELINA.

IMO, usage of SANT can be like a brimstone for IAF fighter fleet, if IAF is serious on providing close air support to Army to effectively take out armored targets from standoff distance even from low altitude outside short range air defense systems. Not many short range systems have range above 20-30km mark. Radar SAR & GMTI mode would be great for targeting.

Usage on current Heli is restricted to the capabilities oF EO pod. But the full capability of SANT can only be utilised by a MMW radar on heli which can search, classify and designate targets upto ranges of 10-20km. This will literally mean death to any armored formation
Army has a requirement for Heli FCR, but HVT from Hal said they have no plans for that, don't know if he is wrong. Two contradictions, so there is a chance that there may be a mmw radar in work or atleast planned for future.

Another question is which one is cheaper to produce, a infrared imagining seeker (cooled & uncooled both) or dual mode mmw/laser guided one

Dual mode seeker, mmw+laser seeker was also made so that the non reflective targets like bunkers and troop concentrations can be engaged through laser guidance. It also made targeting in reflective clutter environment precise.
There is also a sdb-2 bomb trimode seeker, iir+mmw+laser seeker. Main mission of sdb-2 is to attack mobile targets whereas sdb-1 is for stationary targets.
Multimode seekers were there in DRDO roadmap for antennas & seekers, so we might see a weapon based on them sometime in future though don't expect anytime soon. It also depends on if the user specifically asked for the feature, then the development can be accelerated.

KTR laid the foundation stone for VEM technology unit that is coming up in 511 acre at the National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) at Zaheerabad. The project, when operational, will create direct employment to 2,000 people and indirect employment to 4,000.


It is developing country’s first indigenous anti-tank missile ‘Asibal’ conceptualized, designed and manufactured in the private sector . Once final approvals are in place, they can go for production. they have the licence to develop 10,000 tactile missiles a year

It's sad and almost amazing how we completely failed to develop a reliable MALE/HALE UAVs, and now that the domination era of UAVs is over, we made a leap directly to swarm UAVs, and in future, stealth/low-observable UAVs (I hope so, at least).
Don't be sad . The usp of a MALE UAV is it control and communication system not the airframe (which is a 1940s era design) . None of these tb2 could take off without uncles blessings ...cause the control infra is all with them.
You may notice the rustom uses our own satellites.
Our "swarm": concepts use the relay method.

It's sad and almost amazing how we completely failed to develop a reliable MALE/HALE UAVs, and now that the domination era of UAVs is over, we made a leap directly to swarm UAVs, and in future, stealth/low-observable UAVs (I hope so, at least).
Does MALE/HALE UAV's even work in contested airspace (environments that IAF will operate in) ? If not, then why even bother.
