Cleared by DAC means the army had selected the weapon and funds will now be released ?o
Or the usual RFI stages with trials etc and then induction. Which will take ten more years. Fast track:p
Next steps are RFP and vendor shortlisting, tender , price negotiations and final deal.

It will take minimum two years.

Most of these items RFI had been released over the past year.

If Specifications or procurement T&C changes, process will start from RFI.

Fast-tracking procurement for stronger Armed Forces The indigenously developed 'Mareech ATDS' will be made by Bharat Electronics Limited, Bengaluru at an estimated cost of Rs 850 crore for the @indiannavy

A fine example of @makeinindia wherein NPOL & NSTL has contributed immensely in giving @indiannavy a worthy torpedo decoy system. Shall be fitted onboard warships very soon

Remains to be seen when can LRDE Arudhra and Ashwini are ready and pass field trials.
IAF wanted MPR like Arudhra in 2002
And LLTR around 1997. Thats too long a development cycle and tech maturation

Arudhra :
field trails of the radar in integrated mode have carried out successfully in various locations

Ashwini low level transportable radar. The IAF wants about 70 of these, has ordered 18 so far.

Govt compliance report 2015 states
Medium Power Radar (MPR) is capable of automatic detection and tracking air intrusions at an altitude of about 100 meters up to a range of 30 km. IAF projected (November 2002) a requirement of 23 MPRs with active phased array24 radar technology for replacement [between X (2002-07) and XII (2012-17) Five Year Plan] of existing radars (PSM-33 radars, P-40 and TRS-2215 radars), which had completed their service life of 20 years. Based on Air HQ ORs (November 2004) and due to non-availability of technology, MoD approved (April 2006) import of 15 MPRs by IAF and indigenous development of eight MPRs by LRDE with a delivery schedule of 60 months (April 2011). LRDE submitted (November 2006) a proposal to Air HQ for development of MPR using imported antenna25 at a cost of `97.84 crore to meet IAF time frame of 36 months. However, Air HQ insisted (June 2007) LRDE to develop a fully indigenous MPR including its antenna using latest technology. Accordingly, LRDE submitted (September 2007) revised proposal to develop active phased array technology based MPR with Digital Beam Forming (DBF)26 feature, the Ministry sanctioned (November 2008) the project MPR ‘Arudhra’ under MM at a cost of `134.14 crore with a time frame of 54 months
The fact remains that given the IAF requirement (November 2002), ORs (November 2004), Ministry’s qualified (i.e catering for import of 15 MPRs to meet out the urgent requirement) approval (April 2006) for time bound indigenous development, the follow up and implementation of the indigenous project has not been in the spirit of a Mission Mode project and the MPR prototype was yet to be tested / trial evaluated by IAF (August 2015) by when `130.06 crore had been incurred on the project. The delays have affected the Air Defence (AD) plan. "

Unmanned Small Airship System

Recently, ADRDE is working on Unmanned Small Airship System. This will be an autonomous guided and controlled platform with manual override capability. The Airship would be made up of PU coated fabric and would be filled up with Helium gas. Other systems such as Flight Controller, On Board Flight Controller, Obstacle Avoidance & Warning System, Propulsion System, Fin Control Surfaces, Gondola, Landing Gear etc. would be mounted on to the Airship.

Unmanned Small Airship System can be used for coastline surveillance, coastal area monitoring and Civil Management, Disaster Management, monitoring of airports / vital installations, Intruder detection etc

Tactical Aerostat

A tactical Aerostat system with V/UHF payload has been designed by ADRDE and one prototype hardware is developed in a very short duration. This design was undertaken in response to Army's requirement of an Aerostat system which will be operating at 12000 ft plus height with the payload. The total Aerostat System including Gas Management and Ground Control, is transportable in hilly terrains of 2 nos. of 2.5T military vehicles. This Tactical Aerostat has undergone trial demonstration to users at Tawang in North-East successfully.

Hydrostatic Drive for Winch & Mooring System of Aerostat

Hydrostaticdrives are widely recognized as an excellent means of power transmission when variable output speed is required. They offer fast response, maintain precise speed under varying loads, and allow infinitely variable speed control from zero to maximum. Unlike other mechanical transmissions, hydrostatics have a continuous power curve without peaks and valleys, and they can increase available torque without shifting gears. Hydrostatic drive technology is used to develop winch and mooring system for medium size Aerostat whose purpose is to raise, lower and hold the balloon. It contains a pressure compensated, load sensing variable displacement axial piston pump, Hydraulic actuator, proportional valve bank and all required controls in one simple package. Such a system provides all the noted advantages of a conventional hydraulic system. It has been designed for raising and lowering the Aerostat at the speed of 75 m/minute at 3400 kgf load and it can sustain a load up to 10T load.

PMTR is a state-of-the-art Auto tracking System for tracking satellite launch vehicles. It is designed for fast acquisition and tracking of target and can share the track data with cluster of other Radars over digital data network.

PMTR is available in C-band (5.4 to 5.9 GHz) & S-band (2.7 to 2.9 Ghz) versions .

Helium is very expensive. I expect that gas in that balloon is not recovered. It will also take fuel to keep that "airship" in position unless anchored via cable to the ground. Why not just a petrol powered high endurance drone ? The drone will not need that heavy and expensive winch vehicle.

Can you elaborate this point and it's significance?

It does have a huge impact. When you say "Make in India", it means anything from license buildup to JV. But when you say "Made in India", it means you need to have IPR of the system with you. For example, T-90 is a make in India under License production, but Arjun is a "Made in India" irrespective of the fact of how much foreign component it does have.
