GRSE commences production of ferry vessel for Guyana

The Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd., (GRSE), Kolkata, has announced that it has commenced production of an oceangoing passenger-cum-cargo ferry vessel, that it is constructing for the Republic of Guyana.


The Kolkata-based shipbuilding company said that GRSE bagged the order for this vessel on competitive bidding, and the contract was signed with the Transport and Harbours Department of Govt. of Guyana. The 70 M long, 1700 tonnes vessel will be propelled by two caterpillar engines and will have a maximum speed of 15 knots.

NAMIS has been cleared in 2018 itself. 300 missiles were cleared for LSP production along with 25 NAMICA.

This year AON has been approved for ATGM along with vehicles.

As far as my knowledge goes, couple of NAMICAs got delivered for field trial usage. Not sure about the numbers as the corporatization of OFB took main stage after that.
NAG was delivered by BDL for user evaluation.

OEMs rarely make these display models. They usually tender out the process.

Even so, there should be someone to check the work. If we can see the issue from a picture, how difficult it is for the people to pick it out on the site.

Now if someone mishandled the model before/during installation/transportation, then it could have led to that. And since there might not have been time to fix the issue by making a replacement, they would have had to display that model as is.

Well, these models should be installed couple days earlier before the opening day. They have plenty of time to correct it.

Also, this isn't your average family shopping at a local gift shop, its a defence deal. Yes appearances have an effect, but its rather small when one knows he is inspecting a model and not the product itself.

This is exactly my point: the attitude problem. If you don't want to spend a little to correct the minor error of your display model today, how can I believe that you are willing to spend much more time and money to correct any much more complicated issue tomorrow. This display model is just only handled by a few workers, the actual product may be built by hundreds of workers. The possibility of error is much much higher. If I am a military officer, how can I trust you with my life and my people's life?

So I was just seeing that IFV losses are almost twice that of tank losses in recent conflict and most of the armies have ifvs almost 2times that of tanks.
While in India, we have reverse situation and tanks are twice the ifvs. Don't you think that in any war scenario, we will be needing more ifvs.
We almost have 4k tanks while ifvs only amount to 2.5k. standard military doctrine says that a tank should be supported by 2 ifvs/apcs.
