Kanpur gun factory never manufactured shells , even after reorganisation thye don't manufacture shells ,
They only manufacture barrels and small arms after reorganisation

Shells are either made by yantra india limited , specially by yantra india limited , formarly made at ofb ambajhari
Shells are to be made by Munitions India Limited right?

Two factories are involved for the 155mm HE shells. OF Ambajhari makes the shell body and is part of YIL while OF Chanda fills the shell with explosives and is part of MIL.
Koi sense hai is vaat ka ?
Why can't one factory do teh stuff ?

This is not employment generation scheme, but a logical step.

None of the ammo manufacturer runs at full efficiency all the time. Lets assume both the factory could manufacture 100 shells per month. But would they produce it? Or even if they produce, will IA accept 200 shells per month?
So they do operate at max 60% efficiency. Means they do deliver 120 shells per month. In mid of all this one of the factory would have to carry out maintenance activities at one time or other. So other factory would keep on manufacturing that time.

Moreover in a war time scenario, when you need to deliver 110%, then these multiple factories play a huge role.

IEP is being funded under make 1 then it must be IDDM then why this MOU this GE.

I hope it won't be a screwdrive giri. @Chinmoy
:) GE and BHEL partnership is nothing new. You might know about BGGTS. It is a JV formed in between BHEL and GE even before this IEP came in existence.

Now when you say IDDM, it means as per government clause, ‘Buy (Indian-IDDM)’ category refers to the procurement of products from an Indian vendor that have been indigenously designed, developed and manufactured with a minimum of 50% Indigenous Content (IC) on cost basis of the total contract value.

Now when the product is at least 50% indigenous on cost basis, how could it be just 'screwdrivergiri'.

What will be the BHEL contribution.
