No. Tapas has payload of only 350 kg. Akinci has 1350 kg. Tb2 has 150 kg.
That is because Tapas is inefficient af (pretty sad actually). I doubt a UAV of that weight class has such a low payload, might be an error in reporting .

Planes are compared on their size/weight class, not payload. Interesting tidbit here is, Predator has same wingspan as Tapas but has 5 times more payload capacity.

For those who are advocating to buy other UAVs
Tejas was short legged in many areas....Now see where it is

We have mk1a
Now Tejas is being integrated with jdam ,asraam ,hammer
Already qualified for derby , Python 5

When it was inducted ...It had r73. Only

I just quoted the payload capacity of the both platforms, from wikipedia, that seems to be pointing towards correct doc as source (official DRDO page).

Bhai
Lsp s are ordered in less numbers
Forces use them to familiar with the product ..And to suggest change s in the final product...

Lch LSPs will do the same
Luh..LSPs too
Final product will be different from lsps
Yes, only 5 Tapas are ordered as of now. It isn’t LSP ?

Data is from defstrat , from interview of retired Colonel A K Sharma , from 2010 , what year is it today ?? The engine has been changed since then while airframe weight hasn't gone up proportionally

Last updated before crash of 2019 when engine was changed , turboprop to Diesel engine , and now it's higher thrust one , rest i won't speculate based on older number and make wild statement , and being a senior and responsible poster , you too shouldn't

350kg has to be the sensor/comm payload , was tapas-bh1 designed to carry weapon payload anyway ?

The advanced version of TAPAS BH-201 will include greater endurance of 3,000 km and service ceiling of 50,000 ft, in addition to the weapons ability to deploy a wider variety of weapons, and payload of 3,000 kg

:hmm: BH-201 which is the armed drone looks ok?

Where did you get that info ? Even reaper carries 1700kg.

LSP to start soon, will be probably validated and incrementally improved like Tejas.
Could someone explain it
They will deliver 5 tapas between April to September
What does drawing for production means
When they will start 76 nos delivery
It bit confusing
@Chinmoy @Lonewolf if u can simplify then pls

MQ-9 has 3000kg external capacity, with 800kg more on internal weapons bay.

My guess is tthat DRDO has been asked to make a reaper specsheet, where the 3k payload, 50k alt, range etc is coming from.
here it says 1700kg :

Because it uses a powerful engine of 671kW

and payload for MQ-9 is
Payload:3,800 lb (1,700 kg)
  • Internal: 800 lb (360 kg)
  • External: 3,000 lb (1,400 kg)

yea it comes down to engine ,

😐 from wiki

tapas:

Powerplant: 2 × NPO-Saturn 36T engines wing-mounted turboprop, 74.57[12] kW (100.00 hp) each (Prototype)

Powerplant: 2 × CVRDE indigenous , 130 kW (180 hp) each (Production)

akinci:

Powerplant: 2 × Ivchenko-Progress Motor Sich AI-450T turboprop engines, 560 kW (750 hp) each

-----------

180*2 HP vs 750*2 HP ,

tapas is not in the same class as akinci so comparison is moot anyway :dude:
