Remind me why can't we make our erstwhile ofb and dpsu like those of chinese and Russians who are well very competitive on international stage too. Don't give me crap that they don't wanna work yada yada. Whatever the reason you give me can be applied to those of Russians and chinese. To me it solely looks like that we are simply bogged down by babudom like every other thing in india. I don't really care if pvt firms come or not but seriously you have these massive useful assets then why not just make them really good, they exist now unlike pvt firms alternative which may or may not come/succeed, also withstanding the fact that a state controlled firm has its distinct advantages as well.
Someone should seriously consider doing case study about why the difference.

Setting up separate body for testing and certification will be a good thing because only allotment of 25% defence budget to private sector will not be enough. These future Indigenous products need to be freed from the clutch of malicious generals and chiefs.

India can not afford to keep ourself deprived from millions of jobs and billions of dollar defence industry due to notorious UN armed forces. Their GSQR should be examined and only allowed to write requirements. No change should be allowed in GSQRs once approved. Testing and certifications should be done by different entity.

I always wonder, with such a huge budget from decades UN Armed forces still struggling to become a formidable fighting forces. Whenever emergency arise our generals first response will be “Emergency Procurement”

As I said earlier, our Import Air Force chief will regret his first speech for his rest of life. Unethical, Naked and shameless love to ATHOS is also haunting Army chief dearly.

It's all proper management issue in the end. I don't think it's democracy, socialist or communism thing. And in country as vary as ours, applying other countries system who have wholly another set of conditions is as false as it gets. Though I am sure no sane person In right mind would ever want any kind of authoritarian in India. At the very core india is a union and not a monolithic society/nation like others.

@fire starter others what are considered other equipments ??? These are not trucks etc , remains missile and avionics , if it is for that purpose then some big ticket purchase is upcoming as the price is fking huge , almost 50 percent more than previously years
