It looks like it’s a direct purchase, FFV Ordnance AB is the division of SAAB that makes the AT4. Since disposable Rocket Launchers aren’t usually used in large numbers the need for local production may not have been felt. These seem to be for specialised units of the IA and IAF who require a light and compact RL which can be disposed off once used. Most importantly it can be fired indoors which the CG RCL can’t do. Most like PARA and Garuds will be the main users, Ghataks too may use it if there is a need for them too as these systems are relevant these days mainly for urban and special ops, and for regular use, RLs and RCLs like the CG or RPG have proven to be better.
They might also be replacements for the C90 disposable RL system already used by the special forces.

The AT-4 is lightweight and low cost, and can be used indoors. And can be fired when prone. While Carl Gustav which we use are reusable, heavier and have to be carried even after you run out of ammo as its not disposable. So different things different uses.

Can anyone finally tell me what the hell is with our light tank saga. As far as we know, LnT has been selected as DCPP for FICV and Arjun mk1a turret. Any update on production partner of light tank, it hasn't been chosen yet?? I think IA has still hasn't come to terms with the specs of light tank. Previous RFI was like they want everything in the size of maruti 800. Chinese are happy with 35 ton tank, so should we, right?

They want a lighter and more compact rocket launcher that can be disposed once used and can be used in doors and in confined spaces like urban areas and bunkers. Anyway CG RCL MK4 is already in service with SF(import) and all variants of Carl upto MK3 are already made by OFB are more suited for the regular infantry in general uses different from the AT4. They no longer belong to the same category in terms of use.

AT4 CS AST is for the role which current ammo manufactured of Carl Gustav by us cannot do or is not optimal. We manufacture these ammos

What AT4 AST provides is breaching munition capability just like pcb round. Such a ammo is present for Carl gutaf but we don't use it

The bottom 2 on right side, one being thermobaric and one being AST munition, I think we should license produce them too like others.

Coming on AT4, don't know if this is full buy or emergency procurement. According to tpcr of IA, requirement is 3200 and expected life cycle of just 5 yrs, warranting another purchase. So maybe there is a scope for license production of this. 3200 numbers is big enough indicating it being used by regular infantry as well.
