Coincidentally the import list cutoff for 155x52 mm guns was changed from December 2020 to December 2021 under multiple revisions.

It seems that the Army is hellbent on ATHOS and will not induct ATAGS until they get their way.

ATAGS will be inducted since Tatas will strong arm the government just like Russians do. But Arjun mk2 has no such forefathers.

Kadi ninda would divided artillery orders between Athos and ATAGS to keep both dalals and Tata happy.

While the requirement is for 1,580 towed guns, reports have suggested the possibility of the order being pruned to 400 imported guns. For the acquisition of the remaining 1,180 guns which were meant to be made in India under transfer of technology, the Government may opt instead for the indigenous Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS), being developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in partnership with Tata Power SED and Bharat Forge.

Incidentally the cost is also a factor. While the ATHOS will cost less than Rs 11 crore per piece, the ATAGS is said to be costing anywhere between Rs 16-18 crore.

Army Dalals will get more active as 2024 gets closer. Eventually both ATAGS and ATMOS will be inducted just like Arjun MK2 and 494 T 90S were inducted recently.

Even then , the army favored French tr guns instead of the bofors , which barely reached 24 km range .
But rajive gandy and mod ruined the prospects , either we should get Atags or Trajan

What makes you think they won’t induct Trajan’s brother Caesar for the MGS the same way? Also what genuine advantage does Trajan have over Athos 2052 if we really want a foreign gun? Specs are almost exactly the same, weight of Athos 2052 is same as Trajan, has higher indigenous content than Trajan, will be an effective way to see Bharat Forge’s manufacturing skills, cheaper than Trajan etc.
