This is really great news.
Tonbo should do a JV with TASL (who had entered into a JV with Exelis of USA for manufacturing Gen III NVG). Tonbo has already demonstrated fusion technology similar to the new American ENVG-B and FWS-I sights, but Tonbo did it by combining normal optical sight with thermal. If they do it with Gen III and thermal, we'll have desi-ENVG-B and FWS-I.I don't know if posted before (this is Feb news) but gives a lot more perspective to those not familiar with Tonbo:
"Tonbo has done thermal imaging-based upgrades for CRV (cavalry reconnaissance vehicles) in Jordan, advanced electro-optical targeting system for Philippines army. It has also provided thermal sights to Italian firearms manufacturer Beretta and panoramic night vision binoculars for special forces in Israel and night vision binoculars for special forces in France. Besides these international programmes, Tonbo is also supplying its thermal imaging scopes to the Indian special forces."
Enhanced Night Vision Goggle-Binocular
Apparently, they sold BNVD-P to Israeli SOF
Tonbo bags multi-million-dollar deal for indigenising Indian missiles
Night-vision startup, which is backed by investors such as Artiman and Qualcomm, has an overall sales pipeline of over $2.5 bn with a near-term execution visibility of $300 mnwww.business-standard.com

They’ve already done that combining Gen 3/3+ and thermal, it’s called Duvi and Duvi-BTonbo should do a JV with TASL (who had entered into a JV with Exelis of USA for manufacturing Gen III NVG). That isn't Image Intensifier tech. Its Low Lux.They’ve already done that combining Gen 3/3+ and thermal, it’s called Duvi and Duvi-B

Naval Anti-Drone System? What is that? A normal Anti-Drone System on a gyroscopically stabilized platform?
Attack ho raha hai army aur airforce pe aur antidrone system order kar rahi hai navy.!!!!...hope army and airforce also have procured it.
Probably same as the land based one but optimised for maritime conditions and ensuring no problems to existing systems on the shipsNaval Anti-Drone System? What is that? A normal Anti-Drone System on a gyroscopically stabilized platform?
Why will it be needed onboard naval ships ?Probably same as the land based one but optimised for maritime conditions and ensuring no problems to existing systems on the ships
True that. But onboard ships, its still good because when they go for some foreign port visit, they can't go CIWS blazing against a drone. Soft-kill anti-drone systems would be useful for that. Why will it be needed onboard naval ships ?
Main gun & CIWS onboard naval ships along with lynx FCR / EO systems will detect & butcher any drones even before they become a threat
The above system is for protection of land / shores bases including ships while they are berthed with all defence systems turned off
Naval ships are sovereign platforms , they have every right to take any action for self defence even in foreign countriesTrue that. It just feels a bit dangerous to me because the drone attack could easily be a couple of IS terrorists with the host country not being a party to or aware of the attack. And these ships cost a Billion not including the priceless lives of our men in white. Better safe than sorry, its not like these systems take up a lot of space or power. But then again, we don't know what the Navy is planning, so lets wait and watch. Why not ?

Why even go to a foreign port if such threat is possible , but than they could deploy it ( onshore ) for protection of ship if they want , cant talk on behalf of navy . Lets see
My only qualm is the system could have been packaged in a better way
Why would they call it Naval Anti Drone System specifically then unless it has been customised for them? Why will it be needed onboard naval ships ?

Customised for naval use doesn't automatically translate to customised for ship based useWhy would they call it Naval Anti Drone System specifically then unless it has been customised for them?
This is hands down the worst background music I have ever heard in my life. Good tech though.
