Booster is for Accelerating the Missile to reach the desired level for Ramjet to suck in enough Air . Actual product (AAM)may not have this . But I'd DRDO choose SFDR for XR SAM then Most probably this will be an option.
There are rumours that XR SAM is an old project atleast two decades old , I don't know much about that , may be wrong
The air launched version would also have a booster. But a much smaller one.

Isn't that integrated in missile body itself , some article says that this missile test too had that booster in it which ignited after achieving certain altitude , after which that nozzle less nooster accelerated to certain mach number for ramjet ignition

DRDO successfully conducted flight test of Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet (SFDR) Technology today at around 1030 hrs from ITR Chandipur. All the subsystems including the ground booster motor performed as per expectation.

I love the extra thick booster mated to the sleek SFDR . The booster will come in handy for an extended range variant of Akash NG .

Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSE) achieved a major milestone with ‘laying of the Keel’ of Yard 3024 a ship of the Advanced Stealth Frigate Project, P 17A.

The contract for construction of three Stealth Frigates under Project 17A is the largest ever order awarded to the shipyard by the Ministry of Defence with a value of over Rs.19293 crores. The shipyard despite all challenges amid Covid – 19 pandemic, launched 1st ship of P17A Stealth Frigate “INS Himgiri” ahead of schedule on 14 Dec 20. The Keel laying of Yard 3024 has also been achieved ahead of schedule. It is important to note that the Keels for both 1st & 2nd ships viz, Yard 3022 and Yard 3023 were also laid ahead of schedule on 10 Nov 18 and 24 Jan 20 respectively.

The important milestones of ship building involve the process of Cutting of steel which is called the ‘Start Production’ stage followed by ‘Keel laying’ subsequent to which, the other blocks are built around the keel block. The next phase is launching, when the Ship is placed in water for the first time, Subsequently, the ship is outfitted with equipment and systems post launch, followed by trials of equipment. On completion of all trials and once the compartments are ready, the ship is delivered to customer.

P17A ships shall be the most advanced state-of-the-art Guided Missile Frigates, 149 m long, with a displacement of approximately 6670 T and advanced CODOG Propulsion enabling speed of over 28 knots. These complex platforms are equipped with a powerful weapon & sensor package capable of neutralising threats in all three dimensions ofAir, Surface & Sub-surface. P17A Stealth Frigates are being built using Integrated Construction Methodology with enhanced pre-outfitting to enhance quality and reduce build periods. M/s Fincantieri, Italy is the Knowhow Provider for Technology Upgrade and Capability Enhancement in this project. An advanced PDM-PLM system is being implemented at GRSE to manage the project over its life cycle.

What is the use case for this?
Maybe for troops operating beyond the lines for proper mapping and target locating ,it is digital so will help in better guidance for troops

Second system is for aircraft identification based on limited inputs for faster threat recognizability , strategic products imo

How much of the SFDR technology can go back to be intregated with Akash 1/S/P? And what performance enhancement can we expect?
1. High specific energy boron particles sustainer grain/ gel and throttle-able sustainer motor.
2. High energy booster grain.
3. Nozzle less booster design.
4. Jettisonable external booster so that sustainer duct can be designed to operate at high pressure ratio.

And what we have in return? An increase in 400-500 kg (720 kg + 500 kg) weight due to external booster but increase in performance?
How much be the range be, due to powered flight PK would be in higher 80s rather than higher 60s as observed in dual pulse motor powered missiles.

Instead a cleansheet design , involving akash 1s experience , aesa seeker would be much better choice , weight would be less , performance would be better , paired with akash ng er ,can arm our naval assets
