Guys, is anyone aware of a 1kN turbojet engine being developed by NAL? Its being done under a program named "SGTE" (Small Gas Turbine Engine?). I just found a couple of papers regarding the design of its turbine BLISK stage. Apparently the aerothermodynamic and mechanical design of stage was done before 2016 and the resonance response of BLISK was studied and found satisfactory by 2019.

Don't know why they are making it. 1 kN is smaller than even Manik. For drone swarms maybe? But the project is too old, back then there was no drone swarm project either. Then again, NAL is CSIR, not DRDO, so maybe its for some civilian application we don't know about?

@porky_kicker you know what this engine is for?

These are the UAV projects undertaken by NAL in the past but all of them are propeller based hand held drones. Maybe this was something for a UAV which never became a reality.

AMCA will most probably feature 2D TVC. DRDO worked a lot jointly with the Russians on this technology few years back.
Also, HAL has some experience working with TVC gained by assembling the AL-31 engine in its Koratpur plant.
Source?

I have a question.

The SAAW, as the name suggests is an anti airfield weapon. Can it be used in other roles economically and practically as well? For example targeting enemy bunkers, barracks, etc.

@patriots @porky_kicker @Arihant Roy @Chinmoy
Economically, YES. Practicaly, Not quiet sure.

Now we need to make this one smart enough for that role.

Nope it's not economic viable.
A anti airfield bomb has multiple of small bombs inside they spreed out in a massive area to destroy runway.
For a bunker use small precision guided bomb
For a large building use large large precision guided bomb like spice, hammer, etc

Can you explain, please?
Economically speaking, a single SAAW could deliver a dozen of bomblets on a area and turn it upside down. Its good against a huge infrastructure like runway.
But when talking of a small size target like a bunker, you need more precise weapon like bunker busters. Now these in itself are not economical as compared to SAAW.
Now theoretically SAAW could be more effective against such bunkers if you could make the bomblets smart and guided. But then it would not be economical. A 500kg or 750 kg guided bunker buster would be more practical and economical in that sense.
