They are passing through the last stage.
There ars over 250+ PSUs in India it's a good 20 to 30 years away before we reach that point.
Other than this there is a need for a sweeping reforms in the PSU, hire and fire capability and corporate structure is a must.

Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam completed the refit of Maldivian Coast Guard Ship MNDF CGS Huravee. The ship arrived in Visakhapatnam for its refit on Feb 22. The ship was gifted to Maldives by the Government of India in 2006.

Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. is developing single engine powered Rotary Unmanned Aerial Vehicle for the use of Indian Armed Services for troop logistical re-supply roles.


RUAV ENGINE OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Temperature : -30 to + 55 Deg C
Altitude : Sea Level to 20,000 ft
Continuous Power (MCP) @ 18000 ft. (ISA+20 C) -30 kW
Peak power (TOP) @ 18000 ft (ISA+20 C) -34 kW for 10 minutes (max.)
Engine’s continuous operating speed shall be a fixed speed in the range of 5500 to 6500 rpm. Engine should run at constant speed for the varying power. Engine SFC to be less than 0.35 kg/kW- hr at cruise / continuous operation.
Dry weight of the engine including engine cooling system, engine lubrication system, ECU, engine harness, engine exhaust, accessories and Reduction Gear Box (if any)excluding starter-generator shall be less than 52 kg.
The engine installation will be of closed type i.e. within the airframe with adequate accessibility for maintenance. To accommodate the engine within the given dimensional envelope, belt drive arrangement (if required) can be provided to position the
engine output flange in line with main gearbox input flange, as a part of engine. The engine is mounted horizontally in the nose cone section of RUAV using suitable mountings as per the installation requirement of the engine. The engine drives the gear box through a flexible drive shaft to take care of any misalignment
Self contained cooling system is required for the safe engine operation under all operating conditions on ground and flight.
Engine fuel system to be integral part of the engine with fuel pump. The engine fuel system should be provided with fuel filter with bypass feature, in order to ensure continued supply of fuel to engine in case of fuel filter clogging. There shall be a fuel filter pre-clog indication through the ECU.

In that list of public sector enterprises, some of them are no longer in operation- Hindustan Cables( merged with OFB), BHPV( merged with BHEL), Burn Standard, Bharat Wagon and Engineering, Hindustan Photo Films, Praga Tools, Tungabhadra Steels, Tyre Corporation of India... One hopes that, if these other companies were not taken over by more successful PSU's, that their land is put to good use!

Why are you so suprised , it has been around for donkey years , courtesy our dodo ofb, who did the path breaking effort of dumping the BMP 2 gun onto a naval vessel. It was and is the pinnacle of their awesome R&D efforts.

Saurav Jha: So in that context what are some of the new tactical missile systems being developed under DRDO's recently unveiled 'missile autonomy mission?'

Avinash Chander: Our aim via the 'missile autonomy mission' is to cover a wider space as it were. Let me outline some of the new systems being progressed. A new man portable anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) for which design is over and hardware is getting developed. A Longer ranged SAM with a range of 200-250 km is on the drawing board. A quick reaction SAM which can track on move is well-advanced in the design stage. An anti-radiation missile and a long range anti-ship missile which can prevent aircraft carriers from coming within 1500-2000 km of our shores are also being pursued.


Saurav Jha: What is the status of the anti-radiation missile and the long range anti-ship missile?

Avinash Chander: For the anti-radiation missile design is in progress, in fact hardware is being readied for the first trials. We expect successful trials of this ARM from an aircraft in about the next three years.

The long range anti-ship missile is on the drawing board, and we are confident that in about six years we would be able to get it ready. The long range anti-ship missile is going to be a ballistic missile with a seeker which can hit ships at long range.

Saurav Jha: So this is a rough equivalent of the Chinese DF-21D anti-ship ballistic missile? An anti-access/area denial system?

Avinash Chander: Something like that yes. So as you can see almost the entire spectrum of missile capability is being addressed. And addressed to meet state of the art requirements thereby giving full teeth to our armed forces.

The 1500-2000 km range anti ship missile is a ballistic missile so cannot be the 1500 km range brahmos ( if 1500 km brahmos news is true ).
