But Brahmos is an expensive missile.
Nothing of quality is cheap, but it's probably cheaper than fighter jets isn't it? Can probably be produced + inducted much sooner too. And last of all - unlike buying foreign fighters, at least with Brahmos the money is spent on a (semi) domestic product.

This article by Hemant Kumar Rout mentions the presence of an imaging infrared seeker on SANT.

"While the earlier version of the missile has a strike range of about eight km, the upgraded variant with infrared imaging seeker can cover at least double he distance. One more trial of the missile has been planned on Tuesday. A series of successful tests would pave the way for its induction and serial production," a defence official told The Express.

I believe SANT will come in two seeker versions . A w band imaging RF and an IIR seeker. I assume SANT will have a one way datalink for Lock on After launch.

SANT has a range of 16-20 km when launched by ALH Mk4 or LCH.
So the range will be much higher when launched from fixed wing aircrafts.

Ya'll Nibbiars Ya Nibba.
•Ku band seeker is already in use in Astra and Akash-1S.
KU band AESA was in testing. It's Ka band AESA which was under development i think.

• X band seeker don't know whether it's AESA or not is in use in QRSAM. I heard it uses X band AESA though.

Ps: Some one told me about this so I posted it. @Bleh Nibba knew very well what Weapons knowledge I possess.

Lol look at all the different labellings for the same products

EEcif8TVAAYNuml.jpeg

DRDO IR RF Seekers.jpg

Product labelled as X band seeker ( SLCM , NASM ) 1st pic is W band anti radiation seeker in 2nd pic .

Product labelled as W band seeker ( SANT PRALAY ) 1st pic is X band anti ship seeker in 2nd pic .

I think the first picture labelling is correct because W band seeker is a MMW seeker and assembly is cylindrical in shape which is required to fit inside PHH seeker of NGARM.
