its testings would go on and on and on
This is something I am always agree with. Testing will go on until all options of import will exhaust.
Sorry sir for my ill information, I didn't know Astra missile development also includes integration of it to all types of platform. Meteor yet to integrate with F-35 so can we say Immature missile? Its Ok

Rest, if you read your post from where this conversation has started you will find a Ravish kumar's primetime show where he some how try to justify all Pseaudo-lebarandu-peacefullas while conveniently ignores other side

Because it has been made by MBDA.
Here only Company name is enough.

Moreover, IAF would have access to the documentation of Rafale scientists pilots who tested and validated it on Rafale for a decade.
Scientist pilots?? Except Firing, could you please tell what else these pilots do which cant be done by Missile development team ?? Please, don't say tactics because they can be draw by missiles specifications. Neither it come under development process.

But look at MICA. Its testing aboard MKI has started.
So what category does MICA missile fall under?? Immature or under trials or Matured ??

But these systems has a backing of decades of relative research behind them as well as tests to prove their mettle which sadly Astra lacks.
Ya !! of course DRDO don't have such research data as they were playing LUDO

So you could go on and cry as much as you want. But IAF wants to use Astra across all the platforms available and DRDO too designed it for that unlike Meteor. So its testings would go on and on and on unless it gets validated on all the platforms in IAF.
Is Astra is matured for MKI or not??
This is a Win-Win situation for IAF, Delaying + Developing at the same time :clap2:

But THAAD is not rail launched.
What has the missile in question got to do with thaad which is an American missile , be it rail launched or not ?

I am talking about similarity in functionality as a high performance surface to air missile.

Also if the dimensions of the said missile is manageable for carriage by aircrafts , then being rail launched is a benifit , then it can be repurposed as a air launched missile . Majority of air launched missiles are rail launched.

We are not talking about conflict with Pakistan or Somalia but an technologically advanced country like the US, Russia or China(in about a decade or so). And how the hell will you bomb the shit out of the US when we are 10,000km(appx) away from them but their aircraft carriers can be next door to us and when they have many bases in the Indian Ocean area. We do not even have a 1000km cruise missile(only now there are reports of Nirbhay being deployed in small numbers) and our long range ballistic missile arsenal is less than 25 and used exclusively for nuclear weapons delivery.
Well, Iran & North Korea is doing pretty well against USA

If we are talking of conventional warfare we cannot even approach near the US but they can sit on your head here. Do you even recognise the asymmetry.
No, need to approach US mainland, simply approach from where USA approach to you.
They didn't launch invasion from US mainland.

Mr Einstein, I am talking about a hypothetical war with the US in the future and not a war with Maldives. May never happen but should we not plan for worst case scenarios considering that the US Seventh Fleet came close to bombing us in the 1971 war.
If hypothetical worst case scenerio arrives then why you not simply nuke them ?
I am sure that the US has wargamed a future possible war with India though they will not admit it. All countries do prepare for various contingencies.
So does we ? Our ICBM, SLBM, SSN & SSBN, BMD, HSTDV, LRCM, SFDRAAM is not for time pass activities.
If the enemy planes fire stand off missiles and munitions from several hundred kilometres away without violating our airspace then obviously we will not be firing nuclear tipped Sams at them. I was talking about our airspace being violated. Is it so difficult to understand.
Means it would be only for Republic Day Parade.

The use of nuclear tipped Sams is envisaged in a particular situation where our air defence network is unable to adequately respond to an enemy air attack and our vital institutions are under threat.
Which already proved obsolete even in 70s.

What is the connection between an nuclear bomb explosion and anti radiation missiles. A nuclear bomb releases strong radiation but how will a anti radiation missile home in on a nuclear bomb. As far as I know anti radiation missiles are used to take out radars.
You are proposing N-SAM, which uses Radar for Search, Track & Guidance. In SEAD mission opponent use Anti Radiation Missile to take out Radars.

Have you taken the trouble to read on effects of nuclear bombs. Especially low yield tactical nuclear warheads. There is a lot of information available on the net. I was only stating that the effect of a 0.2kn bomb is very different from that of a 20 kn bomb. Nuclear artillery has been around for decades and a nuclear artillery shell does not destroy a city. Please read up on various types of nuclear weapons.
Why do you not quote any report of effect of 0.2 Kn nuclear warhead for city like Mumbai or Chennai.
Mind you that you need 100s of Missiles to protect a single Metropolis.

The Hiroshima nuclear bomb was dropped at a height of about 600 metres above the surface which is approximately 2000 feet. Modern combat aircraft fly even higher than 50,000 feet. So if the invading planes were at height of 40,000 feet our nuclear Sam would also explode around that altitude. So to say that all nuclear bombs are air bursts is over simplifying it.
Even Air Travel polution is not enough you wants to burst 1000s of mini nukes in our own sky ?

In a conventional war you will never use an 12,000km ICBM to bomb the enemy. Usually IRBM's and ICBM 's are used for nuclear weapons delivery. Why are you getting confused and bringing in strategic weapons.
You are hypotheticaly creating worst case scenerio for India & still against using Nuclear Weapons ?

Appreciate your backing for a strong defence capability for India. Obviously there is room for improvement.
Sir, there is Bungalow for improvement.

No point in arguing with you further.
To make you understand, a last try
Pakistan says it will use the Nasr tactical nuclear missiles as a last desperate
measure if all other measures to stop an Indian Strike Corps fail. The missile
will be used on Pakistani soil on an offensive force which enters Pakistan.

Our strategy to use Nuclear SAM' is something similar. Its a defensive measure not an offensive method.

If still you want to argue, then

We will not develop or use nuclear Sam's. The Indian Government will heed your very valuable advice.
HAPPY.

Don't you think we should start working on masking & camouflaging our installations/launchers as random crap?

Something like this...
...or this? View attachment 61100

good idea.:lehappy:

lets drop few random containers in middle of ladakh out of the blue and the enemy will never get suspicious. also hiding a nuclear bomb in middle of the city is the juiciest idea
