Please don't compare Israeli adversaries with our. Palestine no nothing compare to Pakistan. Our is a very unique scenario.
Our adversary is educated, motivated and well financed as compared to Palestine.
One must not forget Israel has unconditional US and Western world's backing. We are on our own.
All I say conduct this operation covertly.
the comparison is not on the basis of what nature of or how capable one's adversary is, but on the basis of the
conviction of your stand.
certainly the central dispensation and the Armed Forces' command know about it better than you or me, and thus base their actions about it.
India has/had been like a birdling that even well after getting its wings, feared to venture far from its home-tree.
the action here indeed was taken covertly. what was made public, was,
the message. we need not fret about it, for we've spent decades in pursuing the same old approach of getting on backfoot if a pebble is thrown at us while we had a mountain to throw back at the aggressor. what did that achieve, and against what cost?! this time, a seminal change in stand was taken. why not atleast wait 'n watch what fruits it bears? the broadcast of the message was absolutely necessary for atleast these reasons:
1. yes, to call out the packi new-kilear bluff!
2. to send a clear message to the owner of pack, ie, cheen
3. to catch the predator by surprise! surely it must've been anticipating at the max only cross-border raids to redeem the IA's paltan's izzat, & which wouldn't have been relayed publicly. this time, the PA was caught clueless & pyajamas-down!
4. to show the conviction we have in our stand/cause. only one who's strong-willed and having a strong conviction would see support for itself, as our history in this particular matter says all.
IMO this couldn't have come at a more appropriate time, when pack was already getting thoo-thoo'ed from all over. why not get even more thoo-thoo directed at it 'surgically' by shoving it in a corner? this thoo is only going to increase with time. afterall, barring a couple, everybody has unlimited thoo to thoo over the TSP.
5. chaudhary sam's 'disenchantment' with their old beggar-with-an-attitude, esp. with the latter falling more & more in the chinese bag. so one old 'protector' already out. the demeanour of the US establishment towards us pre-&-post the strikes is evident enough I'd say (this point is more about the 'backing' to pack & not about importance of message-broadcast).
6. public! yes, the present dispensation's head has had always held the view that the public needs to know something about what the Forces do in retaliation to jihadi attacks, and unless its absolutely necessary, they should be apprised about it, atleast about what action was taken. this was more than evident (or rather, the effects of hiding something from an aggrieved public increasingly seething in rage) from the thread that we have here on the Uri attacks.
so all-in-all, i'd say that this was coming, this was highly deserved, this needs to be followed up, and a traditionally sheepish India should try its hand now with
proactive aggressive posturing.
