pakistan has been using the taliban to good effect to destabilize its neighbours and also seek aid in the name of fighting the same taliban that they are in bed with, so the recent offensive against them holds significance, please post your opinion via the poll.

First of all we dont know if it is an offensive with any conviction of defeating the Taliban or just a sham display to show the US its doing something so that its begging bowl is always full.
Its just not possible to trust the PA.

No it is another charade, as usual they must have killed some innocent people and claimed victory:

Daily Times - Leading News Resource of Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Monday submitted an adjournment motion to the Senate Secretariat seeking debate in the House on military operation in Lower Dir. Senators Ibrahim and Aafia Zia said in the motion that the operation had left dozens of people including children and women dead. He said starting military operation in Lower Dir after enforcement of Nizam-e-Adl Regulation was condemnable. staff report

its a diabolical game played by the puppets pak govt, army and pak taliban under the control of ISI...If US tries to be critical of PAKISTAN and comes close to India, Taliban will be coming closer to Islamabad! We are being blackmailed thoroughly! Why pakistan Army is not stopping the Taliban and Pakistan govt is making feeble noises on impending Talibanisation of pakistan?

If Indian army advances well inside 60 km of Islamabad then Pakistan can definetly mobilize their entire army in some days and fight a pitch battle. But when it comes to Taliban, all they have done is to deploy some constublary Policeman with poor training and obsolete weapons to defend their capital city.

Oh yes. to fight a bunch of ragtag militants you need advanced fighters with AMRAAMs. After all, Pakistani cities have to be defended if those 'militants' attack with Su-30s and MiG-29s!

Well The pakistanis will never let go of their biggest strategic asset. One of their leaders had told that Islamic rulers have won by using terror as a tool. This is their mindset and stonage people myst be let alone...let them fight and die among themselves.

Doesn't matter why they are doing it.

Its two sets of terrorists fighting each other (or at least making a show of it). One is as bad as the other and all I am interested in is that they keep to their West rather than try to send the terror East.

The real question: Did PA has launch offensive against taliban? or are they doing a tamasha for some baksheesh ?

Then its corollary: What are implications for India?

I hate to sound cold and conceited but frankly, I am not all that sorry for Pakistan. Now, finally after all the years of hardship and fear that the people of India have experienced at the hands of these monsters, they are getting a taste of their own medicine. Lets be clear on one point, Pakistan created and propagated the Taliban to do its dirty work..to destabilize India and even after the mumbai attacks last year and the overwhelming evidence that implicated Pakistan's role in the event, a lot of their people just kinda wiped their asses at that info and went along blaming India and accusing the govt. of masterminding that attack. What they dont seem to understand is that India is not a barbaric country that values hatred and murder over the lives of its people. This was certainly quite a rant on my part but yeah..finally...the people there know the true face of terrorism.

"dosent matter as long as they act."

As long as those jehadis are returning to their virgins, I don't care.
Pakistan is un-understandable. Asking the world to save the "democracy"..huh..

There is an clear answer to this question. YES. Many countries are bankrolling Pakistan, and one of those conditions is that they continue to fight terrorism.

The fight stops. duh.

Every time the US pulled the plug on the dough, Pak brokered ceasefire with the Taliban. There are many in Pakistan who still consider Taliban as a potential ally, despite the general populace moving away from the Taliban influence.

As long as Pak considers Taliban as 'strategic depth' against India, War on Terror will drag on.
