Tandoori chicken

Dishes similar to tandoori chicken may have existed during the Harappan civilization. According to eminent archeologist and vice-chancellor of Deccan College Professor Vasant Shinde, the earliest evidence for a dish similar to tandoori chicken can be found in the Harappan civilization and dates back to 3000 BC. His team has found ancient ovens at Harappan sites which are similar to the tandoors that are used in the state of Punjab. Physical remains of chicken bones with char marks have also been unearthed.

Panner

In this paper, by analyzing the absorbed lipid residues from fifty-nine ceramic sherds recovered from an agro-pastoral settlement that was occupied during the peak of the Indus period around mid- to late third millennium BCE, we provide the earliest direct evidence of dairy product processing, particularly from cattle and possibly from some water-buffalo.

The Harappans grew lentils and other pulses (peas, chickpeas, green gram, black gram). Their main staples were wheat and barley.

Bangles

The ancient accessory holds cultural significance that dates back nearly 5,000 years to the Mohenjo-Daro settlements on the banks of the Indus.

Anklet

Barefoot anklets and toe rings historically have been worn for at least over 8,000 years by girls and women in South Asia, where it is commonly known as pattilu, payal and sometimes as nupur.

Peepal Tree

The origin of Peepal tree can be traced back to the times of "Indus Valley Civilization" [3000 BC- 1700 BC] in the Mohenjodaro city. Even in those times, the Peepal tree was worshiped by Hindus.
