The Denmark parliament has approved a $3 billion order of 27 F-35 fighter jets from Lockheed Martin.

Lawmakers agreed to buy 27 F-35 Joint Striker Fighter jets, with total costs for the lifespan of the deal, assuming some planes last as long as 30 years, set at 55 billion kroner, Henrik Dam Christensen, defense speaker for the opposition Social Democrats was quoted as saying by Bloomberg Thursday.

The order will replace old Lockheed Martin F-16s, which Denmark has used since the early 1980s.

Denmark is revamping its fleet at a time when the “world security map has changed,” Prime Minister Lars Loekke Rasmussen said last month, when his minority government proposed going with Lockheed Martin. Boeing Co. had also pitched for the contract.

Aren't we paying too much for Rafales ? Rafale might be a proven fighter compared to F-35 , but that high price ?

Dry price of Rafale is 90 millions€. The rest is : Tools, test bench, support (spare parts for 5 or 10 years), simulators.
