Indian drone maker Vinveli makes UAVs for commercial/defence uses. Clients include NSG & CRPF. Vinveli’s Vero drone:
This can be the beginning of a new class of urban UCAVs for CT and urban warfare operations. The drone is crude but is functional and can be further evolved as a lethal weapon.

If they can figure out what to do with the recoil mechanism, such drones can be fitted with AI-based software to automate some of their functions of flight patterns while a recoil offset mechanism (whatever it is) can allow these drones to become aerial sniper rifles with precision targeting.

I know I am getting ahead of myself, but that's the eventual goal right? We need a platform that can deliver short-range death while offering CAS to security forces in tight, urban and interior regions.

SPG to procure Desi JVPC for PM Modi’s Security

Special Protection Group (SPG) which is in charge of providing security to the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi will now sport a new weapon in their long list of arsenals. SPG which carried out trials on the DRDO developed but OFB produced Joint Venture Protective Carbine (JVPC) has reportedly cleared all trials of the SPG and now will be inducted into the Elite Special force. CRPF already has placed orders for 10000 JVPCs and the first lot was handed over to CRPF in 2017. JVPC also has been ordered by State police from Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, and Meghalaya as well while it waits orders from the Indian Army for which it was developed. JVPC has a 5.56 mm calibre bullets with a magazine capacity of 30 cartridges. JVPC has a much shorter effective firing range and is capable of penetrating soft body armor made of kevlar.

Sherpa Spotted: CRPF set to induct heavy-armoured French vehicle

The paramilitary CRPF is set to induct heavy-armoured vehicle ‘Renault Sherpa’ for anti-militancy operations in Kashmir.

The vehicle is one of the six versions of the Sherpa armoured vehicles manufactured by French company ‘Renault Trucks Defense’.

“One Sherpa vehicle has been sent for repair,” Inspector General of Police, CRPF, Kashmir Operation Sector Deepak Ratan told.

“We are taking a final call soon,” he said.

On whether the vehicle had been inducted for operational purpose, Deepak said, “It is an operational matter and can’t be discussed.”

The sources in CRPF said the vehicle had been inducted on a trial basis.

“It will soon be inducted for operational purpose,” they said.

“The vehicle is being tried in different terrains and will be inducted in the CRPF only after it meets the technical requirements,” the source said.

The vehicle was spotted in Srinagar on Friday.

Earlier, the vehicle was seen in Srinagar on 13 February 2018 during a gunfight between the forces and the militants in Karan Nagar area of the summer capital.

In July 2016, after an attack on CRPF in which eight paramilitary personnel were killed, the force was equipped with heavily-armoured Mine Protected Vehicles (MPVs) that were earlier used for anti-Naxal operations.

A senior Police officer here said that they had not spotted Sherpa vehicle in any gunfight so far.

Official figures maintain that over 408 battalions (a battalion comprising 1000 men) have been deployed in Kashmir for law and order and operation purposes.

Srinagar, the capital city has the largest presence of CRPF, followed by Anantnag.

CRPF to induct heavy-armoured vehicle Sherpa in Kashmir

With Srinagar city witnessing frequent encounters with militants this year, para-military CRPF is set to induct heavy-armoured vehicle ‘Renault Sherpa’, which can withstand explosives, for anti-militancy operations in Kashmir Valley.

Sources said one such vehicle has been inducted on a trial basis and is expected to be inducted for the operational purpose soon. “The vehicle, which is known for its armoured prowess, and is highly mobile in war zones, is being tried in different
technical requirements,” they said.

The vehicle, ideal for tactical missions such as scouting, patrol, convoy escort and command and liaison, was spotted in Srinagar on Friday. Inspector General of Police, CRPF, Kashmir Operation, Deepak Ratan said they will take a final call soon over
the matter. Asked whether the vehicle has been inducted for operational purposes, he said, “It is an operational matter and can’t be discussed.”

The Renault Sherpa Light was first showcased in India at the 2012 DefExpo and is also used by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at the Delhi Airport. The vehicle can accommodate four armed personnel who can fire from inside. It has a camera
installed over it so that security personnel can have a better view of the enemy. Also, it is built using heavy iron so that even a 10 kg RDX blast cannot damage it.

Earlier, the vehicle was seen in Srinagar on February 13, 2018, during a gunfight between security forces and militants in Karan Nagar area. In July 2016, after a militant attack on CRPF killed eight paramilitary personnel, the force was equipped

Srinagar, the capital city has the largest presence of CRPF, followed by Anantnag. Most of the anti-militancy operations in Srinagar are carried out by J&K police and the CRPF while the army deals with the rest of the Valley.

VEHICLE FACTORY JABALPUR TO PROVIDE UPGRADED MINE PROTECTED VEHICLES AGAINST NAXALS
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Para-Military Forces will be strengthened to counter Maoist attacks in Naxal affected areas for saving precious lives of soldiers with the availability of upgraded version of Mine Protected Vehicles (MPVs). Vehicle Factory Jabalpur (VFJ) is working on war footing to complete the upgradation of existing MPVs and likely to soon hand over the first vehicle to its users. It has been expected that the first upgraded version will be flagged off in the coming days. The VFJ already has production order for more than 300 upgraded MPVs including around 200 from Indian Army and 120 from Ministry of Home Affairs.

Senior officers of the VFJ, on the condition of anonymity, informed that they have separate order for supplying modified mine-protected vehicles. He termed it as a prestigious project for proving their efficiency in producing best defence vehicles for security forces and ensuring availability of production works in the factory.

The VFJ has successfully upgraded the MPV and likely to soon handover to the users. Upgraded vehicle is more compatible to counter heavy land mine attacks by militants. Mine Protected Vehicle (MPV) plays key role in checking movement of rebels in Naxal affected areas and protection for CRPF and Para Military Forces. Desired upgradations in MPV will ensure better protection of security forces and checking the menace of rebels in affected areas of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Orissa and Andhra Pradesh.
